The good: Athletically gifted junior capped an outstanding career by leading the Tigers to a 41-13 Sugar Bowl victory over Notre Dame. An imposing athlete with great size, arm strength, mobility and overall talent that should allow him to become one of the premier NFL passers over time. He looks more like a running back than a pro passer when he tucks the ball and runs. During the ’06 season, he was 232 of 342 for 3,129 yards with 28 TDs and only eight INTs, a performance that earned him first-team All-SEC honors. The bad: Needs further development on his basic throwing technique and his ability to read defenses and settle into an offense. He has a long windup and an erratic delivery that need work, in addition to some critical footwork improvement on his setup and follow-through. He did not work out at the NFL Combine. Outlook: Huge athlete with the rare size and arm strength to become a top-flight NFL starter. Needs improvement in making quick, accurate throws and probably needs to sit for at least one season as Michael Vick, Carson Palmer and Daunte Culpepper did. May have the highest ceiling of any prospect in this class. Probably a top-two selection with the Raiders or Lions most likely choosing him.
