Discerning a Vocation

Established in Rome, Italy in 1875 by Blessed Mary of Jesus the Good Shepherd (Frances Siedliska), the Sisters of the Holy Family are an apostolic, international congregation. The congregation is now located on four continents and thirteen countries, and there are five provinces in the United States.

The sisters are called to extend the Kingdom of God's love by imitating Jesus, Mary, and Joseph, whose lives were centered in the love of God and one another, and by witnessing to that love through dedicated service to the Church, especially in her ministry to the family. As an apostolic congregation, the sisters are currently engaged in the following ministries to families: education, catechetics, pastoral care, parish ministry, prison ministry, social work, and health care.

Criteria for admission: no age limit, freedom from canonical impediments, Catholic, good physical and psychological health, social maturity, sufficient mental ability, and a spiritual identity.
