Evangelists Encourage Each Other

Forty Canadian evangelists gathered in Calgary in May for a strategic retreat including teaching, prayer, interaction and networking.

The event, the third of its kind, is sponsored by Equipping Evangelists, a network birthed from an initiative of The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada. Another retreat is planned for November in Ontario. [MORE]

What's New

EFC Supports Better Aid Bill in Senate
The Evangelical Fellowship of Canada’s (EFC) Ottawa staff attended the Senate Committee on Foreign Affairs and International Trade’s committee readings this week on Bill C-293. The bill aims to create an accountability structure around Canada’s overseas development assistance. If passed, it will ensure that all aid goes directly towards poverty reduction. The EFC and Micah Challenge Canada, an EFC global initiative, support the Bill. [MORE]

Weblogs: How Many Parents? Euthanasia
Two new weblogs from EFC staff are available. The first, by the EFC's Don Hutchinson, reflects on the "three parents case" and the "non-parent case," both of which may be heard by the Supreme Court of Canada. The second, by the EFC's Douglas Cryer, offers helpful information about euthanasia and encourages the Church to be visibly in the forefront caring for the vulnerable.

The EFC’s Aboriginal Ministries Council participated in a variety of events at this year's Parliamentary Prayer Breakfast, an annual May event in Ottawa.
