Checklists of Musical Instruments
The Museum's renowned collections, which include more than 13,500
American, European, and non-Western instruments from all cultures
and historical periods, are the most inclusive anywhere. They include
many of the earliest, best preserved, and historically most important
instruments known to survive.
Note: The checklists provided below represent
only a relatively small portion of the Museum's encyclopedic collections.
If you are
interested in obtaining a checklist, generated from the Museum's inventory
database, of a group of instruments not yet represented in the following
lists, please contact the Museum at smm@usd.edu.
