Nebraska Shakespeare Festival 2007

Shakespeare on the Green

NSF is a non-profit professional theatre organization committed to providing free presentations of the works of William Shakespeare in a beautiful outdoor setting for a diverse, contemporary audience.  The Festival is presented each summer in cooperation with Creighton University, the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and the City of Omaha.

Project:    "Shakespeare on the Green" is one of only a handful of "free" festivals across the country. 

Location:    Presented under the stars in a natural amphitheater set in Omaha's beautiful Elmwood Park. 

Audience:    A diverse gathering from across the region.  2006 average audience was 2,600.  Some audiences exceed 5,000.

Residency:    May 28th through July 8th (Some Company Members will begin May 14th and end July 13th).  Download Updated Rehearsal Schedule.

Housing:  
  Provided on the Creighton campus, two blocks from the rehearsal facility and the UNO campus, next to the performance space.

Company:    Made up of top Equity (URTA contract) and non-Equity professionals chosen through auditions held in New York, Milwaukee, and Omaha.  Internship positions are also available.  All actors are encouraged to audition and technicians to apply.

Artistic Style:    Emphasis is placed on human relationships and the life affirming values of classical theatre.  Conceptual approaches range from traditional to innovative but always with the goal of creating the humanity that breathes life into the text.  We seek to create productions that are visceral, immediate, playful, theatrical, and imaginative in order to create a dynamic relationship with our audience.  Our use of the environmental space combines simplicity of staging with images of stunning poetic power.
