Thomas Paine’s Corner is dedicated to fostering socioeconomic justice and supporting the cause of all oppressed and exploited sentient beings on our Earth.
Please be aware of a mistake that is often made by commentators. There is “free enterprise” and there is what I have come to call “Corporate Capitalism.” The former may have some problems, but has been practiced..by some, at least, with a measure of spirituality and/or ethics (or social consciousness). And, it is generally characterized by some healthy competition. The latter is frequently noncompetitive, manipulative, and unethical, if not downright criminal.
The multinational corporations are probably the best example of this..and in this “free trade,” globalist environment of recent days, we are rapidly falling into a “world of pain.”..at least those of us who are not members of the privileged classes. The concentration of wealth has moved along apace and there are VERY SERIOUS inequities..that, along with illegal wars in Iraq and Afghanistan, e.g., do not bode well for millions of us…in America and around the world. And, yes, of particular concern has been the decrease in the number of newspaper and broadcast outlets, meaning the relative sparcity of access to alternative views.
And, yes, also of particular concern has been the fascistic Bush-Cheney regime, which has battled on with little opposition in sight. Appalling!!
