With the pond being the major focus of the park, water-borne recreation is important at Lums. Sailboats, rowboats, canoes, kayaks and pedal boats are available for rent. Whether you rent a boat or bring your own, Lums offers some of the best freshwater fishing in the state. Anglers can chase largemouth bass, bluegill, crappie, catfish, or pickerel. Striped bass is stocked periodically, offering fisherman yet another challenge. Several youth fishing tournaments are held yearly. Boating is also a great way to explore the park's natural wonders. The pond itself is home to several beaver colonies. Waterfowl are numerous at the park throughout the year.  Boat renters must be 18 or older.

From Memorial Day through Labor Day, boats can be rented from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, and from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. From May 1 until Memorial Day and from the day after Labor Day until Septemeber 30, boats may be rented on Saturday and Sunday only from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. Each day, the latest that a boat can be rented is one hour before the boat rentals close.
