The Football Monologues

The Football Monologues are for two kinds of women. First are the girlfriends, wives, sisters, and mothers who know nothing about football but have to hear about it because their men are completely addicted. Next are the women who love football and are looking to connect with other cool women around the globe to discuss the players, the games, and the sport in general.

Bengal's QB Carson Palmer was considered ahead of schedule when he returned to the practice field last year slightly more than 200 days after suffering a "devastating and potentially career-ending" knee injury. Not only was Palmer back in time for the 2006 season but he made it to the pro bowl.

I forsee the same future for McNasty with only minor difference... a superbowl ring in hand!

Philadelphia Eagles QB Donovan McNabb was back under center yesterday at practice for the first time in 204 days.

"He looked great. I couldn't tell that he was gone. He's made differently I think," offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg said.

He's a machine and I won't hesitate to pick him as my starting fantasy football QB this season... and neither should you!

Take three Tylenol and call me in the Morning

Troy Aikman says he has no symptoms from his 10 concussions during his Hall of Fame career with the Dallas Cowboys. Defensive players, he thinks, are more at risk than quarterbacks.

Aikman does get migraine headaches. But he's had them all his life and he says they're not related to football.

"Last week, a study of more than 2,500 retired NFL players found that those who had at least three concussions during their careers had triple the risk of clinical depression as those who had none."

Aikman said that while migraines have been thought to affect mostly women, studies show that seven million males -- 6 percent of the population -- get them.

"I think a lot of men think they can tough it out," Aikman said. "My advice to them is to see their doctors."

Aikman praised the NFL for its recent decision to run baseline tests on all players in training camp so the league can later determine if their brains have been damaged from hits to the head.

"Once it's over and if you can't think or your mind is affected, it can be devastating for some guys," he added. "They can pay for it later, so you have to do what you can to get educated and don't come back just so you can be out there. Don't come back until you're clear."

Favre request to be Traded
By futbolgoddess
Posted on May 17th 2007

Three-time MVP and undisputed future Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre, disappointed with the Packers' refusal to aggressively pursue receiver Randy Moss and frustrated with his team's apparent indifference to making immediate improvements on offense, is demanding a trade to the team he feels will give him the best shot at winning a last Super Bowl ring before his retirement: the 1996 Green Bay Packers.

"I just don't think this Packer team, and GM Ted Thompson especially, is thinking in terms of winning with me," said Favre, speaking to reporters at his charity golf tournament in Mississippi Sunday. "On the other hand, 1996 Packers GM Ron Wolf is committed to building the team completely around me. I don't think it's out of the question to say that with me behind center, the 1996 Packers are looking at going all the way to the Super Bowl."

Post NFL draft bitterness
By futbolgoddess

Ummm... i know i am especially pissed cause the Eagles will be playing New England this season, but com'mon... Randy Moss and Tom Brady... ugh! And for what? New England practically gave up pennies for him... i mean that should never happen!?

Stats say that Randy Moss is still one of the fastest guys in the NFL...

History of the Lakers and the Yankees tell us that just because a team is stacked doesnt mean they will necessarily win a title... I dont know if i trust this stat with 3 time superbowl winner, T. Brady.

Whatever... Mr. Moss i am so picking you to be on my fantasy team this coming season!

This is the Philadelphia Eagles 75th anniversary throwback jersey. They will wear it for one game this season against Detroit. What do you think??

I love the colors but im not a fan of the Eagles wearing this because it looks too much like the Chargers. Annnnnnnnd... this means, no black Eagles jersey's this season and thats just sad!

Let the games begin...

As of midnight last night free agency has begun, who are people talking about???

Donte Stallworth from the Philadelphia Eagles. Stallworth, 26, is one of the top wideout's on the market. He is going to demand a lucrative new contract, something the Eagles have been reluctant to give wide receivers especially after the Terrel Owens debacle.

Oldie but goodie Joe Horn was asked to be released by the New Orleans Saints after the asked him to take a pay cut. Joe really wanted to see where his value was around the league for his services.

Shocking news... Drew Bledsoe has been released by the Dallas Cowboys... NOT. Even though Tony Romo botched the game winning field goal this past season, he is still the Crygirls #1 guy. I am not surprised and you shouldnt be either.

You cant do that on television

Are some people just not made for tv? Or will these ex-NFLer's look better with make up on??

Tiki Barber, who retired this past season after 10 years as a running back with the New York Giants, was named a correspondent for NBC News' "Today" and an analyst for the network's "Football Night in America."

Former Pittsburgh Steelers coach Bill Cowher has joined CBS as an NFL studio analyst.Cowher resigned from the Steelers last month after 15 seasons as their coach. He's not ruling out a future return to coaching and his TV work will enable him to keep tabs on what's happening in the league.

ESPN made it official Saturday. Hall of Fame wide receiver Michael Irvin will not be back with the network for the 2007 NFL season. Meanwhile, as Irvin's seat on the ESPN set has barely begun to cool, rumors that former Cowboys, Jets, Patriots, and Giants head coach Bill Parcells is set to replace Irvin are picking up steam.

Do you think Parcells would make a good addition to the 78-person Monday night crew?

Whattya Think
By futbolgoddess

Twice during his introduction of Wade Phillips, as Dallas Cowboys coach, Jerry Jones had to stop and gather himself. The decision was that emotional for the team owner.

"We needed to get it right," Jones said, pausing as tears welled up in his eyes.

Were these tears of joy or sadness? It seems to me like he had a reason to cry. He just f'ed up and hired an old guy with a mediocre winning percentage. Now I guess thats not completely fair of me, this guy does have some experience under his belt...=

Phillips, defensive co-ordinator at San Diego the past three seasons, has a 48-42 head coaching record over three seasons with Buffalo, two with Denver and season-ending interim stints with New Orleans and Atlanta. The 59-year-old son of longtime Houston Oilers coach Bum Phillips has been in the NFL for 30 of the last 31 seasons.

Eh, I know I couldn't do better but will TO be happy with this guy? Can he compare to the legendary Bill Parcells? We'll find out!
