Andy Goldsworthy

31 March 2007 - 6 January 2008

Four indoor galleries and open air

Exhibition generously sponsored by Roger Evans with support from The Henry Moore Foundation.

This extraordinary exhibition brings together an unprecedented range of work by Andy Goldsworthy, forming the largest and most ambitious project ever curated at Yorkshire Sculpture Park.

Revealing the breadth and direction of Goldsworthy's most recent work, the exhibition features new permanent outdoor commissions, new indoor stone, tree and clay installations, together with sheep paintings and blood drawings in the Longside Gallery. The works are given meaningful context by photographic archive material and key works from the artist's career. By charting significant and developing themes, the exhibition provides an opportunity to reassess the range of Goldsworthy's achievements and the scale and complexity of his work.

This exhibition marks 30 years of Yorkshire Sculpture Park. Throughout the year, a series of special events will be held to celebrate this landmark anniversary, including live performance, music, poetry and lectures.

The first section of Andy Goldsworthy's archive catalogue is now available on line at www.goldsworthy.cc.gla.ac.uk

Shadow Stone

Goldsworthy shadow stone

The large stone within Shadow Stone Fold in the Country Park was placed by Andy Goldsworthy as an invitation for people to add their presence to the work. At the onset of a shower lay on the stone until the shadow of your body becomes visible against the rain or snow around you. Take a photograph of your shadow and send it to Sarah Coulson, Yorkshire Sculpture Park, West Bretton, Wakefield, WF4 4LG, or email it to sarah.coulson@ysp.co.uk, we regret that any photographs sent in cannot be returned. A book of contributions may be published after the exhibition.
