About the 41st Annual Grammy Awards

What: The 41st Annual Grammy Awards

When: February 24, 1999, from 8 to 11 p.m. EST

Where: Shrine Auditorium, Los Angeles -- and, simultaneously telecast on CBS.

Where else: The awards are also being Webcast live at www.grammy.com.

Master of Ceremonies: Rosie O'Donnell, as in "The Rosie O'Donnell Show," whose vocal support of the arts is credited in part for the rebirth of Broadway and for TV audiences' renewed interest in the Tony Awards telecast last year.

Promised performers: Multi-nominated pop icon Madonna will perform at this year's awards, as will Ricky Martin, a multi-platinum selling artist who was nominated this year for best Latin pop performance.

Of note: Rosie's not the only prominent woman at this year's ceremonies, obviously. In fact, eight of the 10 record of the year and album of the year nominations went to women! Most-nominated nominees included Lauryn Hill, with 10 taps; Sheryl Crow, Shania Twain and Madonna with six apiece; and Celine Dion and Brandy with four each.
