Bikes, Blues & BBQ 2006 Review
This year, Bikes, Blues & BBQ is estimated to have risen in rank to the third largest rally in the nation, behind only Sturgis and Daytona. "In my 40 years plus in attending rallies all over the country, I would estimate this year's attendance close to the 400,000 mark," said Dyna Mike, a writer for Biker and Outlaw Biker Magazine, both national motorcycle magazines. Mike went on to comment, "It was impressive and much improved."
Coordinators of the rally anticipated growth of the event. The rally's official website, www.bikesbluesandbbq.org, generated over 15 million hits from the beginning of this year, which is a 30% increase from last year. With expectations of additional demand, 35% more merchandise was ordered for 2006. However, t-shirts still managed to sell out early Sat. evening.
As the event grows, so does the rally’s ability to give to local charities. Last year, the Bikes, Blues & BBQ non-profit organization was able to raise over $125,000 for area charities. While funds are still being calculated from this year’s rally, the organization is hoping to be able to give just as generously this year.
