Shape File Geodatabase (46.6 MB)

Basemap Geodatabase (15.0 MB)

About the Geodatabases - You can now download the FDOT shape files and basemap coverage (feature data set) in personal geodatabase format. The personal geodatabase is an MS Access 2000 file that holds geographic and attribute data. It can be used by anyone who has the new ArcGIS software (e.g., ArcView 8.x, ArcMap). The personal geodatabase CAN NOT be read in ArcView 3.x or ArcInfo Workstation.

The shape file geodatabase now includes layer (*.lyr) files. These files make accessing the data even easier. They also provide standard DOT symbolization for the feature classes. Simply download the zip archive and extract all the files into the SAME directory. You can then add the data to an ArcGIS session by dragging a layer file into ArcMap (using Windows Explorer or ArcCatalog) or by adding the layer file from within ArcMap by clicking on the "Add Data" button. By using the layer files, you get enhanced symbolization. It is important that the layer files and the personal geodatabase (DOTShapesGDB) are all in the same directory.

To download either the Shape File Geodatabase or the Basemap Geodatabase, click on the appropriate link and save the zip file to your disk. Please note that the file size for the Shape File Geodatabase zip file is 47 megabytes (the extracted MS Access 2000 database is 92 megabytes) , and the BaseMap Geodatabase zip file 15 megabytes (the MS Access 2000 database is 35 megabytes).

ArcExplorer

The geographic data on this page require Geographic Information System (GIS) software (e.g., ArcInfo, ArcView, MapInfo, etc.) in order to be displayed. If you do not have GIS software, but would like to view these data sets, check out ESRI's free utility called ArcExplorer that can be downloaded from:  http://www.esri.com/software/arcexplorer/index.html
