The Victorian budget surplus bonus means desperate need can be met say the Greens
04-10-2006 The Treasurer's announcement of an extra $400 million in the state budget is double the predicted surplus and means some of Victoria's most desperate needs can be met.
"The State Government is rolling in money," said Greg Barber, the Greens Governance and Transparency spokesperson. "This is the 'no excuses' election."
"The voters are crying out, but the Lib/Labs aren't listening," said Greg Barber.
"The Greens priorities for spending are:
- fixing schools,
- extending public transport,
- housing for the homeless,
- cutting pokie numbers, and
- environmental repair," said Greg Barber.
"The Greens in state parliament after November 25 will work to achieve all this," said Greg Barber. "It's what people are asking for."
