PUTRAJAYA: The Federal Territory Barisan Nasional (BN) is working hard to capture four parliamentary seats from the DAP while defending nine other seats in the coming general election.

The seats held by the DAP are Kepong, Bukit Bintang, Cheras and Seputeh.

Federal Territories BN chairman Datuk Seri Zulhasnan Rafique said the coalition was confident of wresting the seats as its members of parliament had been working hard for the past four years.

"We are confident of repeating the 2004 (general election) performance by retaining the nine seats and are working hard to capture the four opposition seats," he said yesterday after launching a kite festival in conjunction with Federal Territories Day.

Asked whether he would defend his Setiawangsa parliamentary seat, Zulhasnan, also federal territories minister, said it was up to the prime minister to decide.
"What is important is that all BN members of parliament (in the federal territories) had worked hard over the past four years."

On whether the rising price of goods would affect the BN showing, he said the rises were minimal compared with other countries. -- Bernama
