The Libertas Institute is a new type of think tank – a citizen’s think tank – which is committed to inspiring the citizens of Europe to engage positively with the debate on its future.  While most agree the EU has had a hugely positive impact over the past 50 years, many citizens feel disconnected from the Commission, the Parliament, the huge volume of legislation promulgated by Brussels and indeed any greater vision for Europe.

Libertas aims to address this disconnect by running a vibrant online community featuring blogs, daily news and comment as well as engaging in traditional think tank activities such as seminars, conferences and academic publications.

In the coming weeks and months, we will also announce some ground-breaking initiatives that will seek input from citizens across Europe and will send a loud message to the Brussels elite. The work of the Libertas Institute is intended to solve the paradox described by former Czech President Vaclav Havel when he said that “Europe speaks to my head but it says nothing to my heart”.

Please participate in the online debate, check back regularly for details and sign up for more information or contact us if you are interested in joining.

The Libertas Institute is an independent not-for-profit limited organisation funded by its members.  We do not seek or receive funding from any European Union or national government agency.
