Novel receives critical acclaim

Auxunit topic for author's first novel

Owen Sheers' first novel takes as its starting point an imagined 1944 in which, following a German invasion of Britain, the Auxiliary Units go into active service. It is a work of fiction that takes its inspiration from certain details of the Auxunits' planning and structure.

Owen wrote the book following conversations with an Auxilier, a farmer from South Wales who was recruited into the Special Duties Section as a boy.

Owen hopes that through this novel, the untapped courage and sacrifice of the Aux Units, and their loyal secrecy, will gain further recognition.
