Q: What is the difference between the primary and the secondary markets?
A: Any collectible still being produced is considered on the primary market and is still offered at the original issue price. Secondary market is the term used to describe a collectible that has been retired and is, therefore, no longer available at issue price.
Q: How do I buy or sell Bradford Exchange plates (only) on the secondary market?
A: For information on buying or selling retired Bradford Exchange collector plates, please contact Bradford Exchange's Trading Floor during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 A.M. through 5:00 P.M. (CT). The toll-free number is 1-800-323-8078. Please be prepared to provide the Bradex number for each plate that you would like to sell.
There is no fee to place a bid on The Exchange. If your buy-order matches a sell-order, you pay a 4% commission, or US $4.00 if the price of the plate is under US $100.00. If your sell-order matches a buy-order, you pay a 28-1/2% commission.
Q: What is the value of my collectible?
A: If you would like information on the value of your collectibles, you may contact the Collectors Information Bureau by logging on to: www.collectorsinfo.com. Or, you may also consider using some online auction sites.
