Cardiff reject £1m bid for Ramsey
Aaron Ramsey
Ramsey has only six minutes of first team football under his belt
Cardiff City say they have turned down a bid of over £1m for highly-rated Welsh teenager Aaron Ramsey.

The 16-year-old became the youngest player to represent Cardiff when he came on as a substitute in last season's Championship match with Hull.

The offer has reportedly been made by a London-based Premiership club.

"We've had a seven-figure offer for Aaron, but had absolutely no hesitation in turning it down," Cardiff chairman Peter Ridsdale told the Western Mail.

"The trouble with offers like these for such a young player is that while the headline numbers are impressive, they tend to be structured in such a way that you don't get the full amount until five years' time."

Ramsey, who is the captain of Wales Under-17s, is regarded as one of the best young players to come through the Cardiff academy.

His attacking drive from midfield has earned him comparisons with Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard, and Bluebirds manager Dave Jones says he has all the attributes to be a Premiership star.

He played a significant part in Cardiff's progress to the quarter-finals of the FA Youth Cup, scoring in the 3-2 defeat against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium which ended their impressive run.

Some two months later, Ramsey made his first and so far only first team appearance when he played the last six minutes of Cardiff's 1-0 defeat to Hull at Ninian Park.

Last week, Everton had a substantial bids rejected for 17-year-old Chris Gunter, another graduate of Cardiff's youth development programme.
