Harlan E. Anderson
Harlan E. Anderson is general partner of the Anderson Investment Company, which was founded in 1969 to provide venture capital to companies in technological fields. In the late 1950s, Anderson co-founded the Digital Equipment Corporation in Maynard, Massachusetts; prior to that, he was a member of the technical staff of Lincoln Laboratory at MIT. He has also served as director of technology for Time, Inc., and as director of many technological companies.
Anderson, a member of The George M. Low '48 Society of Patroons of Rensselaer, received the Rensselaer Alumni Association's Alumni Key Award in May 1990. He also chaired the presidential search committee for Rensselaer's 17th president.
Anderson, who graduated from the University of Illinois with a B.S. in Engineering Physics and a Master's in Physics, and who also received the University of Illinois College of Engineering Alumni Honor Award for Distinguished Service in Engineering in 1989, is a member of the College of Engineering Board of Visitors. He is also a member of the University of Illinois Foundation.
Mr. Anderson has served as a trustee of many New Canaan community organizations, the King School of Stamford, Connecticut, and the Norwalk Community Technical College Foundation, and is currently a trustee of the Boston Symphony Orchestra and the Harlan E. Anderson Foundation.
