Frank Miller’s Return Trip To ‘Sin City’ Still Moving Forward

Walk down the right back alley in “Sin City” and you can find almost anything. Walk down the red carpet at the MTV Movie Awards and you can find even more.

Two years after “Sin City” thrilled audiences with its revolutionary style, author and co-director Frank Miller was eager to tease fans with talk of the sequel. “Robert [Rodriguez] and I have a script and we’re all raring to go. We’re aching to get started,” he said. “I want to work with that crew again…that wonderful cast.”

Rodriguez previously revealed to MTV News that the film will be an adaptation of Miller’s “A Dame to Kill For,” a prequel to “The Big Fat Kill.” But what Miller could really use is a Big Fat Starting Date. With Miller set to direct “The Spirit” and Rodriguez gearing up for a remake of “Barbarella,” it was recently announced that filming on the sequel would be pushed back.

“There was just some problems above us that I don’t understand…that I don’t really want to understand,” Miller said matter of factly about studio delays in pre-production. All of which shouldn’t bum out fans, he insisted, since he expects not only to eventually film “Sin City 2,” but “Sin City 3” as well. That story, Rodriguez divulged, would concentrate on Miller’s “Hell and Back,” the story of a hallucinating artist named Wallace. Rumors have persisted for months that the role of Wallace was being written for Johnny Depp, a casting coup that Rodriguez himself was coyly confident would eventually happen.

As for Miller? “I ain’t talking cast until we’re actually shooting,” he said, a large smile crossing his face at the possibility of getting Depp, “or close to it!”

Celeb Spotting: Paris Poses, Tucker Meets Jackson, Krazinski Meets Evans And More

For a lucky few, the MTV Movie Awards are a chance to take home a fabled golden popcorn. For others, it’s just a chance to meet other famous people and get your picture taken with them. Appropriately enough, our cameras caught a lot of the latter: below, see “Rush Hour 3” star Chris Tucker hanging with the legendary Sam Jackson, “The Office” star John Krazinski posing with “Fantastic 4” star Chris Evans, fellow “F4” castmember Ioan Gruffudd staying cool with “Hairspray” lead Zac Efron and Paris Hilton going from walking-to-limo to model pose in a matter of seconds.

MTV Movie Awards Diary: Behind The Wheel Of ‘Transformers’

MTV News Hip-Hop Editor Shaheem Reid is on location at the MTV Movie Awards, prepping for the big show. Here he details his geek-out encounter with some of the actual vehicles from Michael Bay’s upcoming summer blockbuster, “Transformers,” which currently sit on our red carpet.

You know it’s a pretty big deal when the “protectors” of Earth have security guards making sure nobody touches them. Their movie doesn’t come out until July 3rd, but the Transformers have been getting the Hollywood treatment all week…and deservedly so. They are legends. If you’re 25 or older — especially a male 25 or older — chances are the Transformers were an intimate part of your life in the ’80s. Either you loved them or your kids loved them.

I remember every day after elementary school, there were some shows that you could just not miss: “G.I. Joe,” “He-Man,” “Thundercats,” “Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers” (I’m so ashamed of that one), “DuckTales” (ok, two guilty pleasures in a row), and of course “Transformers.” Robots in disguise!!!! So you know how geeked I was when I heard that Michael Bay was bringing one of my all-time favorite cartoons to the big screen. I was even more jazzed (pun intended) to learn that I would be covering this year’s MTV Movie Awards, and part of my assignment would be to write about some of the Autobot cars from “Transformers” that would be on display at the big show. What’s next? Lunch with Mer-Man and Evil-Lyn at Castle Grayskull? Read more…

MTV Movie Awards Diary: Navigating The Madness

MTV Movies Editor Josh Horowitz is on the scene of the MTV Movie Awards. Here he gives his impression of landing in the middle of one of Hollywood’s biggest events.

I work in Times Square, which is to say I know what it is like to be surrounded by the Bubba Gumps and Red Lobsters of this world. So I felt an interesting mix of comfort and anxiety this afternoon as I navigated the Los Angeles CityWalk in Universal City. I was bobbing and weaving between the seemingly endless opportunities to purchase churros in order to participate in the rehearsals for the MTV Movie Awards (Sunday night! But surely you knew that by now?).

It’s my first Movie Awards and while I’ve been working in TV for a few years now, I’ve never been a part of something on the scale of this. This week it’s felt at times like we’re preparing to send a man to the moon rather than honor the hottest of the hot in movies. So I was consumed by that mix of panic and excitement (aren’t the best things always a combo of those two?) as I tried to find my way to the credential table and not be late for my first awards show rehearsal. MTV News’ Tim Kash Vs. Superman, Chewie, And Zorro!

Tim Kash continues to brave the streets of Los Angeles this week in anticipation of his co-hosting duties Sunday night for the MTV Movie Awards. Yesterday he took on the king himself, Elvis. Today he’s mixing it up with a veritable pop culture dream team. Take a look below as he goes toe-to-toe with some big guns.

And make you you check out Tim Kash’s blog for all his adventures as part of the MTV team.

MTV News’ Tim Kash Hits Hollywood

He’s hitting the red carpet Sunday night co-hosting the Movie Awards Pre-Show with SuChin Pak, but MTV’s Tim Kash is already hard at work here in Los Angeles (check out Tim Kash’s own blog here).

This week he took to the streets to soak up some LA flavor and meet some of the stars that hang out seemingly on every street corner. Take a look below.

MTV Movie Awards Diary: Prepping For The Pre-Show

Segment Producer Vanessa White Wolf took a moment from her hectic schedule leading up to this Sunday’s MTV Movie Awards (8PM/7C) to let us know what she’s busy with as all of us here prepare for the big show.

So today was my first day in the L.A. offices for this year’s MTV Movie Awards Pre-Show (airing Sunday at 7:30PM ET). My first order of business is working with editor extraordinaire Darryl Fox on the very special Fashion Transformations we’ll be featuring in the Pre-Show.

Finishing a rough cut of the Megan Fox segment as I type this; the “Transformers” star let our cameras tag along as she met with her stylists to pick a dress for the show. She, of course, looks amazing in pretty much anything so I think the most difficult part will be deciding which one she likes best. Unfortunately, as I watch the tape, she says that each of the 17 dresses (not that many, but almost) is her favorite.

As soon as we’re done with that, Darryl and I will start piecing together the Whitney Port segment. You’ll remember Whitney from “The Hills” as LC’s co-intern at Teen Vogue. We followed her and her friend Joanna as they shopped on Robertson Blvd.

In the next few days, we’ll be working on “Transformers” exclusive segments, like a look at all the cars featured in the film and a segment focused on director Michael Bay. During the actual pre-show, I’ll be floor-producing SuChin Pak on our homebase from the hot pink carpet. Immediately after, I’ll run to the production truck to cut various pieces for the on demand post show. So yeah, a pretty busy week ahead. I must say, for the record, the L.A. offices are much bigger than the NYC offices. And they have much better lighting. Plus, Red Vines and ice cream sandwiches in the vending machines! It’s ridiculous.

Jimmy Fallon Offers Support For MTV Movie Awards Host Sarah Silverman

Forget the Oscars, the Emmys, or the Grammys, the toughest hosting gig in Hollywood is the MTV Movie Awards, which will air live for the first time ever this Sunday (8PM/7C). So what advice does two-time host Jimmy Fallon have for new emcee Sarah Silverman? None. “Sarah doesn’t need my advice. She’s awesome,” the “Fever Pitch” star told MTV News. “If you’ve seen her stuff you know how great she is.”

Fallon memorably co-hosted the irreverent awards show alongside “Spider-Man’s” Kirsten Dunst in 2001 and by himself in 2005, spoofing some of the biggest names in show business with movie parodies of “Star Wars,” “The DaVinci Code,” and “Batman Begins”…ensuring that the all-star event was a must-see.

Fallon gushed that Silverman’s mere presence means the same thing. “I will definitely be watching,” he said.

In addition to Silverman, the show boasts appearances from Jessica Biel, Shia LaBeouf, Cameron Diaz, Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, and Jessica Alba. Also at the big show, Amy Winehouse will perform her international hit “Rehab,” while Jay-Z and Rihanna will sing “Umbrella.”

Who’s your favorite host of the MTV Movie Awards, and how does Silverman stack up? Sound off below.
