Toshiba Gigabeat U

We love our little 1GB iPod Shuffle for working out at the gym, but we're tempted to sell it on Craigslist and upgrade to the new Toshiba Gigabeat U. Available in silver and black, the 2GB player has a few things our Shuffle doesn't: An extra gig's worth of storage, a 1" display, an equalizer, an FM tuner, direct-to-MP3 recording (read: no computer necessary), and support for subscription music like from Rhapsody. It won't clip onto our clothes the way the Shuffle does, but at just $79.99, it's certainly a lot more for the money.

Calphalon Enamel Cast Iron Cookware

New from Calphalon: An enamel cast iron cookware collection that works hard in your kitchen and looks great on your dinner table. Choose the round 5-quart or oval 8-quart Dutch oven for soups and stews (the domed covers collect and redistribute moisture), the rectangular baker for lasagnas and apple crisps, or the panini pan and press for indoor grilling. All the pans have porcelain enamel exterior surfaces that resist chipping and scratching, are oven-safe to 500 degrees, and come in Cabernet (red), Chive (green), and Custard (yellow). See all Calphalon cookware.

The New Apple iMacs

What's not to love about the new Apple iMacs? Their anodized aluminum frames, glass covers, ultrathin keyboards, and 20" or 24" glossy widescreen displays demand your admiration. Under the hood lie Intel Core 2 Duo processors, built-in wireless, and up to 4GB of RAM, plus iSight cameras, iLife '08, and SuperDrive (for playing and burning your own CDs and DVDs). CNET says "unless you're a gamer or an upgrade enthusiast, we can think of very few reasons not to make an iMac your next desktop." Prices start at $1199.

QuickLink-Pen Elite Handheld Scanner

Yellow highlighters are a thing of the past, thanks to the QuickLink-Pen Elite handheld scanner. Ideal for students, researchers, and anyone else who needs to take lots of notes, the QuickLink-Pen Elite lets you scan and store up to 1,000 pages of text (and small images), and then beam the data to your PDA or smart phone, or transfer it to your PC via USB. Scanned URLs will be added to your Internet Explorer favorites list. The scan-and-define function lets you display word definitions, and you can even have your scanned text read out loud to you over the built-in speakers. (If there are other people around, please make use of the headphone jack.)
