Clipse
Hell Hath No Fury

Re-Up/Jive
XXL.gif

clipse.jpg“When I get mad, I put it down on a pad,” Chuck D said on Public Enemy’s classic “Welcome to the Terrordome,” explaining a lesson he “learned in Virginia (Beach).” Chuck was referring to the 1989 Greekfest riots, where the perceived racism of police and local businesses toward the droves of Black college students resulted in two days of looting. Virginia Beach’s most famous brothers, Malice and Pusha T, were only teenagers when their hometown exploded from its built-up frustrations, but it’s possible that the Clipse have learned the same lesson as Mistachuck.

After being stuck in label limbo for the last four years, Clipse have plenty of reason to be mad at the world. While the rest of their Star Trak family jumped ship to Interscope, Clipse had to sit back and watch as an unresponsive Jive Records let the original follow-up to their 2002 platinum debut, Lord Willin’, sit on the shelf past its expiration date. Rather than self-destructing, the duo started from scratch and channeled their frustration into a new, confidently mature sophomore effort, Hell Hath No Fury.

Best known for their unconventional radio smash “Grindin’,” Clipse are no strangers to taking risks with the boundary-pushing Neptunes, who return as trusted co-pilots for Fury. This time, Pharrell and Chad’s well-known hollow Korg drums and distorted synthesizers are replaced with an unpredictable gathering of lush instrumentation that embraces Pusha’s inventive drug-game metaphors and Malice’s soul-baring confessionals. On the hypnotic “Keys Open Doors,” over the eerie mix of screwed-up angelic voices, chimes and congas, the brothers run circles around the competition, while the spine-tingling boom-bap of “Ride Around Shining” sets the stage for Pusha’s hilarious boasts (“The Black Martha Stewart/I can show you how to do this!/Break down pies to pieces/Make cocaine quiches”). Whether rhyming over wild steel drums (“What It Do [Wamp Wamp]”), distorted, lo-fi guitar plucks (“Dirty Money”) or overblown 808s (“Trill”), the brothers come with colorful references and inventive wordplay that easily put them in a lyrical class of their own.

Leapfrogging over rap’s stereotypically one-dimensional hustler, Clipse proudly bare their scars without compromising their larger-than-life persona. Older brother Malice accepts responsibility for his missteps on the woozy accordion thump “Momma I’m So Sorry,” spittin’, “I’m sorry grandma for the mistakes that I have made/When I aired family business out, you put me in my place.” While Pusha is more known for his witty one-liners, he brings a new level of honesty to the album as well. Bilal’s aching vocals frame the soulful, stripped-down “Nightmares,” where Neighborhood P’s paranoia takes center stage (“Hoping my karma ain’t come back to haunt me/Was it that nigga?/I took his powder with a smile/Praying to the Lord the gun ain’t pop and hit the child”). Super thugs take note—this is how you create compelling crime tales.

In retrospect, perhaps Clipse should thank the “crackers” at Jive for the four-year hiatus. At a time when most MCs are pressured to strategically churn out a cookie-cutter album every year for fear of losing their spot, Fury is street hip-hop built to last. The forced sabbatical gave them ample time to painstakingly evaluate their musical motivations. Avoiding the extraneous guest appearances and the stepped-on pop confections of their debut (such as, “Ma, I Don’t Love Her”), the 12 carefully crafted tracks on Hell Hath No Fury are pure, uncut dope. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it.—BRENDAN FREDERICK

  • 1st! The Clipse are straight fire- lyrically and flow, been waiting on this FOR EVER. Hopefully The Neps have been keepin some of thier best beats back for this

  • first bitches and about fucking time that people respect that slick talk. That’s what the game need now! Real talk and not that bullshit

  • 2nd!

  • […] Oh and Hell Hath No Fury gets a XXL.   […]

  • wheres the tunes at!! lemme listen!

  • thts gon be a hot album…2 up 2 down

check out this VA rapper straight fire

    www.myspace.com/crazyhouseproductions

  • Clipse is wack

  • Real recognize real. Clipse is fo real.

  • I aint hating on dem niggaz cuz dey alwayz rep VA but a whole cd produced by the neptunes a XXL. They sound boring after a while and dey shyt start sounding the same. Them niggas always talking bout bringing real hip hop back but they rappin the same shyt everybody else is. But overall good look on keepin it VA bout time we get some shine for some rappers. Cuz magoo and timbo rappin set us back.

  • lol Clipse comin for dat ass this time around, cant wait

  • I’ve been waiting for a new Clipse album for what seems like forever…can’t wait to listen to it and see if your review is correct.

  • Holy shit! A XXL! I gotta cop this when it drops.

  • they been waiting 4 years to only put 12 tracks on the album hell no im bootlegging they shit. y everybody only having a little amount of songz on their cd’s? is there really nothing to talk about? O yeah ludacris album deserves an xxl too. but i guess money meaker spoiled it huh?

  • FINALLY THE REVIEWS ARE RIGHT Luda Clipse Xzibit get their due while shitty pop acts like chingy gets thiers thx XXL

  • GO BUY LIL WAYNES AND LUDAS ALBUM 2MOWROW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • XXL???? a bit overated for the same crack-hop the rest of the game doing. they can spit but so can weezie F. baby, surely u don’t think they are betta.

  • U gonna give BANK$ a l and These Mr.me 2 Bitches a xxl. Man yall need to think with ur mind not heart, please.

  • Well they said it would be a classic Id expect nothing less.

    myspace.com/ninohnewjack

  • ^ MAN DON’T HATE I LIKE BANKS AND HSIT BUT CLIPSE ARE GOOD AND FUCK MAN XXL THAT HASNT HAPPENED IN 6 YEARS THIS ALBUM WILL DERRINENTLY BE CLASSIC

  • The only rappers that can talk about drugs on almost every song and get away with very believable stories.

  • Yo, you say nobody has got an XXL is 6 years, well I think Common’s Be just got a XXL last year. This is wack, I mean, you give Banks an L and this shit a XXL. Now I aint saying banks deserves a XXL but he deserves an XL. This is some fucked up shit. Clipse aint that nice.

  • man this album betta be tight, for it to get an xxl. i’m gonna cop it the thursday before it comes out(the mom & pop stores be having the lick, the neptunes didn’t produce the whole thing so i hear

  • To JIHOD1:
The Neptunes definitely did produce every beat on the album.

  • You niggas hatin’ are fuckin’ stupid. Y’all ain’t even heard the album yet. Wait for it to even drop before talkin’ shit.

  • How much did Jive pay you for that - huh? LOL - don’t front like Geffen didn’t pay u for that Common XXL rating too.

I know your little secrets XXL - u fucking frauds.

  • I cant wait to hear it. Sure they spit about the same things alot of the D boy rappers do. But they sound way more intelligent and believable. I fuck with Clipse. Botu time they gave something a xxl anyway (Fishscale)

  • And is it me, or does this review really suck? The writer doesn’t even explain what makes this album a XXL or a classic. Why is it so special??? It just reads like a regular album review. If an album gets a XXL - it should offer reasoning on why this release is something special and why its a timeless classic. This review reads like a normal XL - which makes me think XXL bought this rating to push the hype for the album.

  • ATL’S OWN, how can you not fuck with the clipse but fuck with the nigga that blatantly ran with thier style. C’mon, I like weezy and does hold his own amongstthe ranks in the south, but he’s not nowhere close to push and mal. Go cop Lord Willin’ while you wait for this one to drop.

  • This will be one of the best albums to come out this year if doesnt get pushed back AGAIN. Copped.

  • Fucking Jive. Gimme this shit you stupid dicks.

  • Everybody needs to go cop this shit wen it finally comes out, we need to support real hip hop….and for all the haters, CLIPSE is 10x better than the whole Ghey Unit, lil wayne n his gay dad, Jibbs, ludacris, and evry pop snappin rappers that are killin hip hop.
    -ONE.

  • Enough of the pop sh*t thats out there. Clipse speaks the truth and “We got it for cheap” vol1 and 2 were better than most albums that were out at the moment.

Clipse > wayne, baby, luda, gay unit, jibbs the idiot, and every lil jon snappin finger mutha f*ckers.

  • […] Damn shame too because it got an XXL rating in XXL magazine… […]

  • The Clipse are talented with the pen and the flow, they just seem to waste that talent on the same subject matter. hopefully this xxl will be justified. i’ll cop it regardless because I’m a fan, but at somepoint the crack-hop has got to come to an end. I was hopeing the Clipse would be one of those groups to change.

  • AM D/L THIS SHIT MAN OH SHIT

  • Damn perfect score “lord willin” was dope so I might cop this

  • if this gets pushed back again i’ll kill myself with a spoon.

  • maybe xl- a little too much love

  • […] Clipse krijgt een XXL, volgens de recensent heeft het uitstel er uiteindelijk wellicht voor gezorgd dat ze een concessieloos en goed afgerond album droppen. […]

  • I heard it was gettin pushed back till december now. Hopefully this great review will maybe even get it pushed up.

  • xxl baby thats what im talking about

  • Dis shit is da fire! yes yoiu heardn me da damn Fire! No album this year can relate to this hot fire! that is coming out of the clipse boys mouthas. They spit like the slave owners used 2 spit on the slaves/ The spit hot fire.
I dont see why the reviews face didnt burn off from this hot fire. This shit is the coolest rap album out there. This album has more fire than the fireman weezy has because hes not a real fireman. But he made a song about being a fireman. So I ate chicken for breakfast and I liked it. It was good. I might spell some words wrong cuz my fingers are still greasy from the fried chicken.
But anyway this album is true hot FIRE!

  • yall keep talkin about crack-hop has to come to an end, the fuck you want them to rap about ridin horses and shit?

if you grow up sellin drugs, you gon rap about sellin drugs, “crack-hop” wont stop until people stop sellin crack

  • […] Hell Hath No Fury, also known as the most anticipated album of all-time ever, gets a pretty positive review in XXL. For those of you not hip to Clipse, step your game up. music […]

  • Wow, I’m not sure whether their album’s this hot or XXL fucked up the reviews, again.(like when dey mixed up Bank’s and Rick Ross’ ratings.)I’m sure it’s hot, but I suggest that everybody checks it out for themselves to be perfectly sure.

  • So XXL is saying its a classic and its been on the shelf for 4 years?

  • Yessir. I knew it was comin soon snough. Fuck Juelz, Clipse is what the fuckin game is missing

  • Now Jive needs to stop fuckin around and drop the fuckin album already. Fuckin crackas

  • im coppin da real album…not from my local african bootlegger on Delancey Street…gotta show luv 2 da clipse they my nikkaz!i nu this was gonna be a classic!
    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

  • THESE DUDES ARE COOL BUT I GOTTA HEAR THIS SHIT BEFORE I CALL IT CLASSIC…I DON’T KNOW…COMMON AND KANYE’S LAST JOINTS WERE AIGHT BUT NOT CLASSICS TO ME…WE’LL SEE

  • The Clipse have always been on my top 10 list, did anybody hear the verses they spit on the Biggie Duets Album, WHOOOOO!? CRAZY. Creativity and wordplay are two key elements that are missing in Hip-Hop (or Rap, whatever you wanna call it), but the Clipse have an uncanny knack for mastering those elements without going too far over the listener’s head while maintaining their gritty street cred with commercial appeal. It’s time people really wake up because Hell Hath No Fury.

  • Clipse spit that real shyt and they deserve the XXL…the first album was CRACK this album gone be PURE WHITE..enuff said..respect dat..they doin that shyt! ya diiigggg

  • […] In retrospect, perhaps Clipse should thank the “crackers” at Jive for the four-year hiatus. • These those niggas. Word. You can’t put VA in a regional box. Niggas out there wayyyy too universal for that shit. Is it dirty south? Is it east coast? Is it west coast? Is it Mid-west? These niggas everything - they on that VA shit. Y’all don’t know about that original shit like that. 7 Cities Represent One Time! RESPECT.

  • fuck niggas saying these two niggas are fake they from the subs in va. moma and daddy got nice big white house before they even dropped, one was in the army so that tells you he aint got record, and the other one was a skateboarder lol….

  • Man Yall niggas straight trippin clipse are so fuckin hot and real its not even funny yall niggas out there who hatin need to just stop FOR REAL!!!! these be the same niggas buying shit like jibbs chain hang low and chicken noodle soup shit now when we finally got one of the MOST anticipated albums about to emerge yall lose all yall real hip hop sens LOL this generation is funny as hell….oh yeah and i cant wait till Jay drops his next album cause the industry is so fuckin shitty right now for real we need u jay….

  • It’z been a long time since my niggaz got the props they deserve, but the bad part is dumb azz motherfuckers here that bubble gum dope talk(Jeezy, Juelz, Wayne, etc….) and think it’z the hottest shit ever because it’z dummbed down wit stupid shit right on thier level. So you get real niggaz spittin shit that is real and intelligent at the same time then you get Hating. People hate what they can’t understand, an everyone of those Dumb Asses who haven’t even heard it and a spittin hate should kill themselves for showing how fucking dumb they are. Pusha Said that shit best though “If he claim KING and he claim BEST, then I guess you can call me GOD there’z none higher, none flier the KING PIN iz back!!!” Listen to em and understand it before you hate and get up on that VA SHIT, TWO UP TWO DOWN ALREADY!!!

  • All the clipse talk about is crack be more creative damn, I’m copping they album though.

  • HOW DE HELL DID DEZE GUYS GET XXL

  • Been hearin good talk about this one for a while now..cant wait to hear the finished product…anyone who posts a comment like “Clipse is wack” or “Jeezy is better” probably doesn’t listen to much of a variety of rap.

Vibe.com has a stream of “Wamp Wamp” on their front page if anyone wants to check it..

  • mc shut up fool

young jezy is 100 times better than these clipse mutherfuckers

    50 cent out xxxxxx

  • I was inspired by the clipse. And look where it took me.

    www.myspace.com/doetotheman

  • AND YA NIGGA COMPARIN “YOUNG CHEESY” AND “LIL NO-WAYNE” TO CLIPSE NEED TO SHUT THE FUCK UP. THATS LIKE COMPARIN VANILLA ICE TO B.I.G. ITS JUST WRONG. AND LIKE I SAID BEFORE AND WILL SAY AGAIN—-WAYNE RAPS LIKE HIS SHIT IS HAVING A HARD TIME COMING OUT. NOW FUCK OFF! HELL HATH NO FURY!

    R-E-U-P-G-A-N-G!!

  • These Boys had the right ingredients to mould a classic from the outset..
Just listen to the first track on Lord Willin …

Maturity and Creativity is all the where missing which the have gained via the mixtape circuit forcing to establish the name futher than just Pharell and Chad’s rap hot rap duo…

We got it 4 cheap Vol one show the potential vol 2 backed it futher…

So what we have now is the truest street classic album since’s Hova’s Blueprint …. These Fellas are in the real underdogs / villans that you just have to route for …. The are without question amist all the rap pretenders the New Kings of the Underground

  • hi bitches

  • This is hype not a classic I WORTE THIS B4 BUT ADMINSTRATION DECIDED NOT 2 POST MY COMMENT

    www.myspace.com/vindiakaleon

  • HOT.. COP IT!!

  • THE CLIPSE IS THE REALEST NIGGAS TO COME OUT OF THE EAST COAST IN 7 YEARS.
THEY HAVE BEEN A FEW PEOPLE, BUT THEY ALWAYS A DOUBT SOMEWHERE. NOT THE CLIPSE, THEN BOYS IS 100% REAL AT ALL TIMES AND IF YOU DON’T BELIEVE LISTEN TO THEY FIRST ALBUM THEN MULTIPLY THAT BY 500.AFTER ALL THAT B/S WITH JIVE AND THOSE CRACKERS THEY CAME OUT HARDER THEN ANYONE EVER EXPECTED! HELL HATH NO FURY LIKE TWO NIGGAS WITH SOMETHING ON THEIR MIND,ALL TOGETHER WERE LOOKING AT A NEW POWER HOUSE IN HIP-HOP THE RE-UP GANG IS ABOUT TO TAKE OVER. REMEMBER I TOLD YOU FIRST,REMEMBER THAT XXL!

  • MAN WHO WANTS TO FUCK ME IN THE ASS? MAN YOU CAN HIT ME AT LIL’ WAYNE’S HOUSE. JOIN THE WAITING LINE.

  • Can anyone please tell me a song, 1 song clipse had before they got signed? None. They were Pharrells homeys. That was just a mere favor that turned these fake ass coke pedaling rappers into a success. I went to school with these dudes and trust me Terrance and Gene didn’t no pushing ever.FAke ass niggas. My people in the beach know the realness.Point Blank period.

  • Superman are you gay??? Yo homie get off this site wit that gay shit…. CLIPSE always bring FIRE

  • I kno one thing…every track gone prolly be about drugs……clipse are lyrically inclined but their subject matter has to be the most bland among rappers ive ever seen…most rappers rap about gang bangin, flossin, bitches cars and money….but these cats only rap about drugs!!…Hell Hath No Fury, but Tha Carter 3 will eat this shit up…

  • Pusha t or Lil Wayne?…Lil Wayne Duh!!!!….better flow better lyrics, better voice better and more deliveries, and definately more versatile u can put wayne on any kinda of track imaginable…lil better than everyone for that matter

  • This will be the first album that I would spend $18.99+ for rather than buy “bootleg.”

  • Exactly C. Villian all these niggaz rap about is drugs errybody can’t relate to that shit.

  • LIL WAYNE IS OVERRATED. STUNTIN LIKE MY DADDY? LETS BE SERIOUS FOR A MINUTE. CLIPSE’ FLUENT DELIVERY IS ENOUGH TO DAMAGE MANY NIGGAS IN THE INDUSTRY IF THEY WANTED. AND THIS IS COMING FROM A NEW YORKER. NOW THATS SOME SHIT. BESIDES WAYNE’S DELIVERY SOUNDS MORE LIKE HES TAKIN A SHIT. HE HAS TO FIND ANOTHER WAY TO FLOW CUZ THAT “SHIT” DOESNT DO HIM ANY JUSTICE.

  • GAY VERY GAY AND UUH REALLY GAY CLIPSE IS A BUNCH OF DOOSH BAGS SUCKING PHARELLS DICK AND THEN HE SUCKS THEM AFTER MR. ME TO IS GAY AND
SUPERMAN SHUT THE FUCK UP YOU FRUIT CAKE

  • lil wayne is much much better than the clipse the clipse dont have ebough creativity lil wayne probly will have 20 tracks on his cd and the clipse only will have 12 now thats some bullshit.

  • i aint dickriding well maybe i am but lil wayne is the most consistant rapper he has an album every year and this year alone he has came out with 3 mixtapes. how many mixtapes clipse came wit?

  • dont get me wrong though i like the clipse BUT they arent better than lil weezy baby

  • Creativty?……Creativity is wen you can have a 20 track CD and your flow changes on each one….Lil wayne can rap about anything he has the knowledge of and will make it as unique and creative as possible……dont get me wrong i like the clipse…but i wud BET a million dollars of which i dont have that they cannot rap without making a refernce or metaphor concerning drugs.

“modern day gangster, old school playa, a fine display of greatness at its greatest, sendin an array of strays at any patriot, breakin down K’s instead of quarters…kettle water(hot)..pleez..no more ziplocks and shoebozes, my little niggas in school got shit now…all the teachers in school got fixed, wen they see me in the streets they give me gifts, i aint riffin nor raffin, nor rappin, nor yappin, no i aint from the nolia but i’m, no i aint into coke, but i have it, no i aint into dope i stock it,like i aint got the pole in my pocket, no i dont like the rolls, but i’ll cop, the white man lookin like i aint fit to go in my pocket, no i aint fit to stop, i’m still poppin…holla…like i aint at ya throat i’m a turtle neck collar” WEEZY F. BABY

  • fuck consistency…Lil wayne is the best rapper Period…My Man Jay-z is comin back…but its time for him to step down and Hand It Off tto the 3rd greatest rapper of All Time…Lil Wayne….

    1. Jay-z
    2. Tupac
    3. Lil Wayne(will probley move to #1 three albums from now)
    4. Notorious B.I.G
    5. NaS

  • Chris Villian?? Stop suckin lil wayne dick! You fag!! That nigga is fire wit the flow once he started rappin like dem NY niggas! And u ridin because you put lil wayne before BIG? before Nas? Before ludacris? before Bun B before FACE? before Juve? (who by the way taught lil wayne HOW to rap)!……

Back to the topic! Clipse is murder!
How can some of yall say the Clipse only take about drugs? Dem niggas HITS weren’t about drugs! Cot Damn, When’s the last time????????????
They come with a whole new sound from Pharrell not all that party shit and FAG music like these other niggas who get a beat do with it! I really think XXL is pressing the button on this one. An XXL rating should be something earned not given out, that’s like sayin this album will be classic like Doggystyle. I doubt seriously that this one is “classic”. I think we need to reclassify the term “classic album”. Time declares a classic. Timeless hits. Like the Chronic is CLASSIC, because you put that shit on today and it will still bump! I doubt we goin to be bumpin this Clipse album like that! I’m lookin forward to see them niggas back in it with some more crank!

  • just thinking, does artists really let XXL listen to the albums so far in advance? I’t obvious of course but I mean.. Damn! XXL give me a job! hehe

  • are u kidding me??? LIL WAYNE SUCKS

Lil Wayne : “dear mr. toilet im the shit!”

    WTF IS THAT

    u call that lyrics

pick up Clipse’s album and Game’s album

  • Cuntman is a stupid woman that knos nothing about rap…go have ur period somewhere else u slutbag whore

  • Superman is right…and Cuntman is exactly wut his name is…a CUNT

get the fuck outta here and quit droolin on Weezy’s dick Gillie Da Kid alread killed him so u on a dead rapper dick now

  • wat’s with African Americans….and these Gay talks like GET OFF MY DICK and other talks of that sort…and why is it that Afro aamerican can say any homosexual shit and just say “NO HOMO” and its cool….thats not cool…that shit dont fly in the Bahamas…….Feeling as lil wayne is the best doesnt mean im “sucking his dick”….how the fuck your mind even got on some gay shit like that…u must be the faggot….

  • Ayo The Clipse is the best dou since Camp Lo

  • Man, this shit better be dope.

  • I ll hold judgement til tha album comes otu but while da clipse are good rappers Ima a liol skeptical bout dem getting da equivalent to tha sources 5 mics which deems a album a hip hop classic, but well see

  • Mr 50 Cent Says:

    September 29th, 2006 at 8:54 am

  • I love how the Clipse spit it rawer than raw, but more than anything, how they have always portrayed the street life from a different lyrical angle than most average rappers can even fathom to construct. I’m just tired of hearing about how great their album is or is gonna be and I need for their label to stop pushing their album back. These dudes are too nice to have them just sittin’ on the shelf forever and a day.

  • XXL dont know how to fuckin rate albums. Anybody on the east get a XL or XXL. Down South, Mid-West, or West Coast get Mediums and Below. Like my nigga wayne say “Stop being rapper racist”.

Jive has been fuxing these guys raw dog with no condom for the past four years but the Clipse finally have a release date, November 28th. The album has already received a perfect score from XXL magazine, and hopefully the imbeciles at Jive won’t find a way to fux this up. Head over to Nah Right and eskay has the official track list. • listen the the disturbing fact is that weezy while that has been my dude for a minute changed his flow completely, this coincided with the signing of major figgas by cash money, gillie da kid is known as a ghost writer, that is what he is, there was never a threat of them ever coming out with an album, im pretty sure cash money did not sign them for nothin, i wont go as far as to say he wrote wayne rhymes or whateva but he may have coached him on how to be an mc, Wayne was not a beast on tha bloch is hot or lights out or 500 degreez, they were ok albums neither of them were a classic, like i said wayne is my dude but i am an open minded person so i can see both sides of the situation

    ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
if u was born in da 80’s don’t dat make u a young buck as well from a hip-hop perspective?

if lil Wayne,Young Jeezy and TI are garbage then why not the Clipse!

they all come from the south and:

    lil Wayne = Young Jeezy = TI = Clipse = Crack-Hop

Album after album of pretend Coke transactions!

Track after track of sex, violence and drugs!

    How Boring!

This is the real reason hip-hop is dying!

record sells r down because of a lack of imagination!

imagine going to watch TV only to realize that u only have one channel, and on that channel they only played remakes of scarface and porn wit the same two actors.

How long would it be before people just stop watchin’ TV altogether?

5yrs, 10, maybe 20yrs; well we finna find out soon!

someone pleez make an album compellin’ enough to save hip-hop!

  • LET’S BE REAL, I’M A LLOYD BANKS FAN AND HIS ALBUM SHOULD HAVE GOT A MEDUIM THA MOST THAT SHIT WAS STRAIGHT TRASH. THAT NIGGA AINT GOT SHIT NO MORE NOT IMPRESSED. PUSHA T WOULD MURDA THAT NIGGA AND SO WOULD FAB. THESE NIGGAZ GET MONEY AND GET LAZY AND EXPECT NIGGAZ TO BUY THIS TRASH THEY PUTTIN OUT. CAN’T WAIT FOR THAT CLIPSE JOINT

  • THIS IS THE ALBUM I’VE READY FOR. AFTER THEIR FIRST ALBUM I DIDN’T THINK PHARRELL WAS GONNA GO THIS HARD, BUT I WAS WRONG. THE INSTRUMENTALS WERE GRITTY, AND HARD; SORT OF LIKE THEY TAKING IT BACK TO THAT WUTANG STATUS.

  • XXL? Are you fucking kidding me? Them niggas suck. I’m from the south them niggas gets no love down here!!!

  • Why nuckaz constantly hating on Clipse? They put out a street classic this time around and are at where Hov left off with his first album. Now they can rebuild their singles status and smash radio cuz they got the streets listening. WTF is this Banks is better than Clipse? lmo Banks do got creative punches, but the difference between them is that Clipse always reinventing themselves, especially Pusha. Dont be mad Banks cant tell em mob tales as well as Clipse or the Geto Boys, or even Kool G Rap for that saying. Clipse been done their research. They might have a few wordings with Hov for putting out Jeezy and not signing them for their constant coke talk, but Jeezy’s movement when he came out was much bigger than their’s when Clipse came out. Anyhoo….. yeah, Banks do his thang, and I respect a man getting his papes. But yall gotta respect that Clipse just dropped a street classic, whether or not you think Banks got more money than them. G-Unit been sooo big a few years ago, folks forget Clipse went platinum, plus went gold on mixtapes and other projects. Banks and Clipse prolly got the same money, cuz 50 aint gonna just give free money away from his pocket to his crew. He aint give his grandparents much but a nice crib. lmo Lil Flip got more money than Banks and his albums be one-hit wonders based on mainstream appeal, and all his albums still go platinum just with his Clover Gs movement. Do the math homy before you talk reckless bout Clipse, cuz Clipse is the new playas to watch next year. No member from G-Unit has a street classic on their hands, except maybe 50 with his mainstream debut, and that’s no based upon pure lyricism neither. lmo No offense to 50, but thats real talk.

  • 50 can come with a street classic if he stepped his game up lyrically, but G-Unit said on SuckerFree MTV he gon be in da background for the most part now. He tryna spend his time making G-Unit Records like the old Def Jam of the rap world, and I doubt that 50 cares about being one of the top 5 dead or alive, cuz that nucka’s getting money. lmo Yeah….. Banks got Clipse in certain categories, but Clipse aint wack neither. They been going hard and are the next big thing for the south, as far as lyricism goes. Swagger aside, T.I., the King Of The South aint bringing real hardcore lyricism to the South. Luda, Andre 3000, Big Boi, UGK…yeah, they are. Even Jeezy with his well-known cheesy lines do have sum nice lines that he aint get credit for. Besides that, Clipse prolly gonna be the mob-storied version of Outkast, but on a lower sales type of scale… Not diamond I don’t think. They could go double, and potentially multiple-plat if they keep that buzz going. I hope they do it too.

  • The Clipse are mostly coming from an East Coast perspective. VA is South but it is the top of the south like Maryland and DC, so it has more of a Northern outlook with a southern accent. This might be why a lot of people from down south don’t understand them.

  • they changed the rating?? i guess its all about the money when it comes to a classic album

  • Dope:4 Fist, Detroit.

  • both singles Ive heard from them have sucked. But who knows it might be a good CD

  • hey y’all, shit is leaked, jump on it. Truth about the fire.

  • I take it that Jive and XXL are affiliated? C’mon, you guys need to keep it gangsta. This album is completely devoid of content. Not one track that makes you ponder for even a second. It’s laden with street bangers, and not the thought-provoking material that merits the title of a “hip-hop” classic, in this day and age.

Yall need to get it together.

  • Hell hath no fury is right this album is straight dope….VA stand up ya boys doin it again….BUY this album even if ya cop it off the Web. Let them real cats shine BUY BUY BUY!

  • I’ll tell you something, this album does not wort Rhymefest’s Blue Collar, I think it should have been an XXL for ‘fest.

Rhymefest is eclectic and avant-guarde, his music is full of emotions.

Clipse is always the same shit, tunes after tunes it’s the same. Even if it’s really well produced, this album is COLD, there’s no emotions, like the CD is turning in the CD Player but there’s nothing else but sounds. No emotions.

  • this shit is crack. and lil wayne is wack

  • i bootlegged this shit and it aint an XXL ..sure its neptune produced tracks are original and they flow iz ight but the lyrical credability and issues raised in it dosnt make it live up in the classics such as mobb deeps the infamous, nas illmatic, jay’s reasonable doubt and dre’s c 2001 etc

  • ripped a few songs off the internet and im hooked i dont usually buy albums but i gotta support this album the production & lyrics are amazing

  • To me it doesn’t matter how many tracks are on an album as long as they’re straight fire (Illmatic only had like 9…will ANYONE say that album is garbage). An album should be a cohesive experience to listen to and not just random tracks pieced together with some that standout and others that are filler.

This cd is hot. If you hate on this then that’s on you but you need do a reality check to see if you’re wack. This is some of the hottest cocaine rap since Cuban Linx PLUS they wax philosophical on some of the tracks (Momma I’m So Sorry, Hello New World) AND come with the wicked wordplay that they’re known for. If you want more tracks, download some of their bangers that didn’t make it and put it on that shit when you burn it (3 hot ones: Eghck, Pussy, Studyin’ Y’all). This is bangin front to back.

The Neptunes evolved their sound…less spacey, more grimey (Chinese New Year, Keys Open Doors, We Got it 4 Cheap) and it fits their flow perfectly. One.

  • NB: The Clipse would eat Jeezy and Wayne for breakfast, shit them out, and then wipe their ass with both of their liner notes. Jeezy spits that cocaine rap but he’s not diverse enough with it (the reason I thought his album wasn’t all that was BECAUSE it had too many tracks. You make a 18 track album, the chances are some them are going to be wack filler). Wayne is dope but this cd is levels above The Carter II. Not hatin, just sayin. Peace

  • We all need to go out and buy this album when it drops on tueday, november 28th. If albums like this don’t get supported or debut high on the charts, hip-hop is gonna die out even faster than we thought. Let’s all go out and do our part. There’s no reason why this album sells any less than 300,000 the first week. Help keep real hip-hop alive!

  • Yo…I copped the Clipse album..and that shit is half wack…they flow is tight, as always..but the majority of the beats are wack…the neptunes slipped up on this one…usually nuthin’ but fire..a xxl? not even close…game’s album is xxl material, not to mention jay-z’s new shit…that’s fire

  • Ryan’s Got A Point I heard that TI and chamillionaire are da only platinum rapper this year….and mobb deep, banks, ludacris, busta rhymes have all put out albums this year. Idiots need to stop downloadin hip hop illegally and go out and Cop Dat Disk.

  • this shit is fire NIGGAS!! COP IT!

  • neptune dem niggaz aint afraid to experiment with beats thats why i like these niggaz beats & than add clipse’s shattering lyrics you got one hell of a combination

  • […] Sure, XXL gave Clipse’s new album Hell Hath No Fury an “XXL” rating (something that only 5 albums have previously obtained). Still, nowhere in the review is the word “classic” used, and with good reason. While the music is arguably perfect, only time can decide its classic status. Hoping to get some insight into what they consider hip-hop’s most timeless tracks, we asked Pusha and Malice to name 10 albums (in no particular order) that they would give a classic rating to. Hindsight is 20/20, of course. […]

  • yo today is the day (Tuesday Nov. 28th) I copped it and have no regrets! The joint is straight piff. Real talk. This alblum goes HARD! I listened to it twice already! you hear that intro track? “I’m the best since He died and He lied…” Eewww!

  • Copped the album… Listened to it MORE THAN ONCE before I decided to judge it. This album is great because its different. Never really heard beats like the ones on this album. The production that The Neptunes did for this album is what puts it over the top. These beats wouldn’t sound right for everyone but for Clipse, they’re style, and they’re sound, it meshes perfectly. That’s what u need for a great album. Great lyrics and sound, production the compliments the artists, and various topics. Clipse makes the beats sound great, just as the beats makes the album flow together. All you up and coming artist need to take note: You don’t NEED 20 tracks produced by more than 5 producers, just a producer OR 2 that compliments your style and sound. This album puts you in a zone and keeps you there until its done. Very pleased with the album! “Nightmares” and ” Ride Around Shining” is the shit!

  • Yo this joint is piff! I just copped it yesterday; no regrets! You dig? I advice cats to go support this joint, Its DOPE.

  • My bad. I post last night and the shit didn’t appear so I reposted today now I got 2 post up here! WTF?!?
    That shit look dumb.

  • kEYS OPEN DOORS!!! & cHINESE nEW YEAR ARE DOPE

  • clipse and lupe fiasco

    bringin back real music

    re-up gang and fnf!

  • Yea and as of ppl sayin they tired of crack rap, I don’t think its necessarily crack rap they tired of. Its all of it soundin the same without ppl being creative wit it. I mean there’s only so much u can talk about and u can really only talk about what u kno. So when niggas be creative and add slick metaphors wit a different sound, that’s what hip hop is about… Creativity! Everybody can’t be nas, jay-z, pac or lupe (just naming them cuz they’re styles and content are different from one another). U gotta do u and make your own kinda sound. Plenty of ppl rapped about hustlin b4 jay, but he didn’t sound like everybody else ya dig!

    313 Detroit we in here!

  • But we do need more of a variety of styles. That’s what really drew me towards lupe. Different style, style, and lyrical content. Oh yea and shit, back when reasonable doubt came out, ppl was sayin they was tired of hearing another rapper talkin bout hustlin. Think about it!

  • what are the stand out track yo????? so i can rip em

  • album is off da chain…clipse have evolved…’keys open doors’ and ‘nightmares’…crazy!

  • mannn this is the worst rating by XXL ive ever seen id give it an XL AT TOPS!! the lyrics for sure aint the best beats are wack as hell if why dont yall rate some real music wheres the lupe ratings? that cd is way beter than this if it dont get an XXL and this does XXL you suck at rating

  • i’m telling you right fucking now, the whole g-unit is wack, especially lloyd bank$, fuck is he doing singing n shyt lookin soundlin like 50, what a fag, CLIPSE IS THE SHYT, the album deserves xxxxxl if you ask me, kick rocks niggaz clipse is it,lloyd banks deserved a XS, his first shit was wack too-fuck g-unit clipse is all real

  • Man this is somethin new they bringing to the table.Yeah is “Crack Hop”..but these dude doing it on a different level especially Neptune giving the beats..some of the tracks got some kind of old skool feel to it but a bit different though..can’t really describe it though..but it’s pretty addictive “give up the money/ or the angels cry two tears/”….For Yonkers check out “keys open doors”, “Ride around shining”, “chinese New Year”, “Nightmares”…shit pick up the CD, and listen for yourself….as for it being a classic I’m still trying to determine that, but it’s still tight though…Damn, I know some might disagree with me but it was worth my hard earn money…

  • Oohhh yeah for anybody thinkin every song is about crack…they got things in there that ain’t about any drugs…This could turn out to be one of the best album of the year,if not the best…ladies, and gentlemen..Clipse done did it…

  • Yeah! The Clipse did it again! 4 Years removed from the circuit and they picked up where they left off; spittin’ da real shit. Deez cats are lyrically clever and poetically well versed. The CD is a BANGER from Track 1-12. Listen real carefully to “Keys Open Doors”. This is an example of Supreme Penmanship. VA stand up! (Side bar) Timbaland shoulda keep JT’s tracks for Genuine and Missy.
    Nucca !!! …. Real~adelphia.

  • this is the most addictive cd i’ve ever bought, and i’m a music fan of all genres. i’m hooked like a basehead to this album. def worth the wait, label drama, 10 bucks, and XXL rating.

  • I LIKE THE CLIPSE BUT THERE NOT BETTER THAN GUNIT

  • Lyrically superb. Overall though the cd was ok. It seems you can mix and match the beats and lyrics on this joint. The flow never changes regardless of the song. It almost felt like I was on some Ferris Beuller shit for few moments throughout. Only if you had a 3 1/2 rating. That’s were I got it. Worht buying though.

  • i got that cd for christmas and put all the songs on my ipod and won’t stop listening to it, it is that good every one should have it, it’s crazy good

  • […] Let’s take a trip down the history of Pusha T & Malice, the brother duo that make up The Clipse. Being down with The Neptunes since 93′, they recorded their first album around 1998, which would finally see the light of the day as an internet leak dubbed ‘Exclusive Audio Footage‘ around 99′/00′. Their label at the time, Elektra, never released this as a retail album. Even though I was fan of their single ‘The Funeral’, it didn’t catch on, even though in retrospect the song hasn’t dated itself, and sounds superb to this today.  But this didn’t strain their relationship with The Neptunes who brought them along on to their Star Trak imprint through Arista (Jive). They kept themselves busy, inclduing appearances on the ’Training Day‘ soundtrack, and they enjoyed a guest spot on my personal favorite pop remix of Backstreet Boys’ ‘The Call’. Even at Arista/Star Trak things didn’t start to go smoothly for the most part. After a bunch of times being pushed back, only after the mega-monster track ‘Grindin‘ caught on with the mainstream did the album ‘Lord Willin‘ finally get a concrete date to come out, August 22, 2002. It was a success that would go on to get certified platinum. I can’t pick a track on that album that I would skip over, they all range from very solid to classic. By 2003 the brothers were back in the studio working on their follow-up ‘Hell Hath No Fury‘, it was penned to come out December 16, 2003. Shortly after this, Arista dissolved into Jive, and Star Trak went over to Geffen/Interscope sans The Clipse. Jive refused to release The Clipse and kept them on the roster, they continued working with The Neptunes, but the split from Star Trak put the album in limbo. Fast forward to late 2005, the Clipse were given the green light to finally drop their album, but worried that their songs from 2003 weren’t relevant they starting putting together the album from scratch. In early summer of this year the 1st single ‘Mr. Me Too‘ with some direct jabs at their record label came out. Even though the single caught on and was featured as the jam of the week on MTV Jams, I felt that it was getting a one and done type push from the label for them to make some money by quietly releasing the album and ridding themselves of the Clipse afterwards. When I saw them opening up for Ice Cube in mid-May (when they had the energy & material to headline but got dealt about 20 minutes of stage time) the duo announced that the album was scheduled for a late August release. As July was creeping up into August, the album was re-scheduled for a October 31st release. With the 2nd single featuring Slim Thug, ‘Wamp Wamp‘ out, I could finally start to taste the album coming very soon. That taste turned sour as the album has been pushed back intro December, making it, 3 years overdue, what a fucking shame. But there might be a light at the end of the tunnel, as it recently got a perfect XXL rating from..XXL. Hopefully this will force Jive to put out the album, right? right?? Shelving a alleged-classic will make a lot of people pissed (no one more then the brothers themselves). Recently Rolling Stone had a piece on The Clipse, and I truly feel their pain they are suffering through with their label. Read.. […]

  • Man u must be fucking trippin. Clipse got fire and they be spittin dat shit on dem Neptunes beats, but how does this get an XXL and all the others on get XL’s; Rick Ross, Luda, and Weezy F and Baby. Bad call on this one!

  • […] 11. The Roots Game Theory (Def Jam)First, yes I do like Game Theory more than Hell Hath No Fury, and I realize I?ll never write for XXL now. This isn?t the place to unfairly compare one album with another, though, right? Here?s what I wrote earlier this year: I had a running joke recently with a few friends regarding The Roots? current album-naming strategy, speculating as to which popular social theory would be their next album title, following The Tipping Point and the current Game Theory. Freakonomics? Blink? The Long Tail? We came to the conclusion that most pop-social theories would probably make good album titles for The Roots, but that an intellectual relationship with Malcolm Gladwell wasn?t necessarily a good thing for the band (we didn’t speculate as to Gladwell). That sort of stuff is fun to read on planes, but when it seeps into rap lyrics, yeah, well you know. So after the shapeless and the pointless (ha) Phrenology and Tipping Point, it seemed that the direction the Roots were destined to go, instead of the timelessly dark-yet-celebratory potency of the amazing Illadelph Halflife and Things Fall Apart, was going to be marked by pseudo-intellectual philosophizing and flat, aimless jamming and Cody Chestnutt. But while the sub-Blackalicious-ish slam sloganeering on Theory opener ?False Media? (that actually rhymes ?Littleton? with ?Ritalin,?) is a clear and unfortunate stylistic leftover, the next seven songs after it show clear as crystal that the group in fact does remember what it really should be doing with its life. They?re tight and sharp again, with a pulse that?s more lively than ever because they?re trying to make rap beats now instead of auditioning as the next house band for Gamble and Huff or whatever. • “KEY’S OPEN DOORS” NIGGAS

  • This generation of rap is terrible. I don’t even like rap music nowadays but Clipse…..Clipse is the shit, the way they play on words and the way that they utilize metaphors is something that they have mastered, no one in the rap industry is as witty as Pusher T (Terrance)and as straight forward as Malice (Gene). If they sold drugs or if they didn’t sell drugs they speak the language like a motherfucker…does it really matter? An actor can play a part as a lawyer and be good at it but they aren’t really a lawyer. Rappers are actors as well as rappers, they own a persona and their persona is Clipse, Malice and Pusher T and as rappers they can rap about whatever! In real life they are Terrence and Gene Thompson and we don’t know shit about them. Life is a game and u have to find ur nitche’ and clipse nitche is rapping and they are great at it, I will put them on a list with Tupac and Biggie. I myself like R and B, I will only listen to AMG, Tupac and Biggie and now Clipse when it coes to rap. Clipse are good but no rapper out deserves a XXL, I will give them a XL but not XXL. But our opinions are just opinions they aren’t going to change the rating they gave Clipse so get over it.

  • bottom line: 1. Clipse= same shit u here every day on the radio but concealed well enough to trick u idiots to thinking its “real” hip hop
    2. XXL wouldn’t know how to rate a real Album if a classic hit them in da face (lupe=XL/Clipse=XXL….wat….da…fuck!!!??? :l)

  • This is a very good album, one of my favourites =) This is real hip hop, funny lines and the Clipse are creative. It took a while before I really started to like this album, but it’s a very good one, everyone should give the Clipse a chance man! PUSHA T!
