OWNERSHIP

Fila is a leading global manufacturer of elite Italian performance footwear, apparel, and accessories. The company is a subsidiary of Sport Brands International (SBI), which creates, develops, produces and distributes athletic brands including Fila and the Jackson Hole, Wyoming-based Cloudveil. The Fila brand has its most vital market penetration in the Americas, Europe and Asia. SBI is a privately held entity with global operations in Milan, Italy; New York; and Sparks, Maryland. Research and development facilities are additionally located in Montebelluna, Italy.

RETAIL PLATFORMS

The Fila brand is available in approximately 50 countries at sales outlets that include boutiques, athletic specialty, and department stores synonymous with upscale retail. The company debuted its most inspiring retail architectural statement yet at 340 Madison Avenue, New York—a product platform that is the stunning result of the vision of renowned designer Giorgio Borruso. An enduring tribute to the art of movement, the store reflects Fila’s renewed dedication to elegance, lightness and grace, seamlessly united with the heart and core of sport. Subsequent store roll-outs have been planned for 2007 with 2006 openings including such elite markets as La Jolla, California and Boca Raton, Florida. In addition, Fila features e-commerce sites at fila.com utilizing advanced Akamai web technology.

BRAND PORTFOLIO

Fila develops, produces and distributes footwear, apparel, and accessories under eight distinct performance product categories: tennis, running, mountain, golf, fitness and wellness, vintage and active wear. Fila incorporates technology, high-end fabrics, and detailing as design elements, transparently interwoven to improve comfort and performance. Each footwear design takes into account the individuality of the performer. Apparel collections are tailored to complement the natural motion of the performer. All collections target both male and female consumers.

True to its Italian heritage as a luxury brand, Fila also combines bold and classic statements in streetwear. Filativa and Vintage collections fuse performance and lifestyle, and are designed for a younger, trend savvy consumer. Many of the recently unveiled lines, such as golf, are an enduring tribute to the brand’s upscale textile heritage and an indulgent introduction to couture sportwear.

The distinctiveness of the Fila family is branded by design. The box F denotes  vintage as well as luxury products like the golf collection, while the linear Fila incarnation characterizes performance merchandise in categories like tennis and running.

For over four decades, Fila has been synonymous with authentic European sport and luxury. One of the most sought-after brands in the tennis world, Fila gained its notoriety by extending its influence beyond the duration of events. The brand is dedicated to the lifelong athlete and supports this platform by building long-term relationships. The goal of all sponsorships and events is to create a love affair with the game. Fila’s philosophy is evident in its efforts to create a lasting positive impression and to create personal involvement. Featuring on-site retail, we offer the same elite performance footwear, apparel, and accessories to spectators exhibited by the players themselves. We provide ambassadors in addition to hospitality rooms, and we arrange tennis lessons for participants.

We believe in real people having real experiences in a hands-on atmosphere that promotes the athletic development of each individual. In running, Fila has established two key partnerships that not only promote fitness, but represent our grassroots commitment to personal fulfillment. In 2006, the brand assumed the role of Official Supplier of the AT&T Austin Marathon and the Austin Distance Challenge. The Distance Challenge is a series of races to prepare runners for the Austin Marathon, and encourages its 30,000-plus participants to challenge themselves through running or walking in small but ever-increasing races. At the six-month benchmark, Distance Challenge participants can undertake their final trial: 26.2 miles of a marathon or 13.1 miles of a half marathon.

Additionally, Fila supports the highly publicized Team Continuum. This dedicated group of runners, which includes cancer survivors, strives to illuminate the strength and resilience of the cancer community. By running marathons—the equivalent of an extreme sport for individuals undergoing treatments—Team Continuum re-defines quality of life for cancer patients in the 21st century.

Fila Tennis continues to support grassroots tennis events around the world, including a role as the official apparel and footwear sponsor of the United States-based Sony Ericsson Open in Key Biscayne, Florida, and the Pacific Life Open in Indian Wells, California.
