Pop's longest-running alleged felon has now released more music since being hit with child-pornography charges in 2002 than he did in a decade-plus of untroubled R&B; thuggery. Pre-indictment, Kelly's MO was to undercut much "Bump 'n' Grind" with a little "I Believe I Can Fly," but now he's added a new trick -- not confessions, though the term is tempting, but dramatic pieces like the ridiculously mesmerizing "Trapped in the Closet." This album piles on the bump 'n' grind, from a title track in which Kelly and Snoop share two freaks apiece to the "sexasaurus," kangaroos, and jungle noises of the ridiculously sublime "The Zoo." But the standout tracks are a dialogue in a prison visiting room, a duet where he and Usher figure out they're both in love with the same Georgia Tech grad, and the escalating rage of a breakup phone call. "Real Talk," that last one's called -- which sure beats exploitative sex as an artistic specialty.

I give this album a full 5 cause it's worth it. I don't care what Kelly is going thru legally, we can not overlook nor deny the fact that he is a musical genius! Yeah, his stuff may be different and he loves to play on words on alot but it is still good. No one, and I mean NO ONE, out there can put it down like Kelly. I know alot of people want to see him in jail because of his "alleged" crimes but point remains you were not there and you and have no heaven or hell to put him in. Get up off his legal issues and give credit where credit is due! Kelly has been putting out hit after hit since I was like 12 or 13 years old and just because he has a little legal issue no one wants to support his music anymore. STOP HATING. If you guys would stop looking at him like he's infallible and start viewing him and alot of other celebs like there humans then you wouldn't have as many issues with him...and until you can honestly say you have no wrong in your life then maybe you can sit back and judge someone's life. But for now what you can judge his music and this CD is 100% R Kelly. Just take all of his singles, remixes, and collabs and throw them in a pot and stir it up...What you have is Double Up. You can't say you liked all of his other work and not like this one cause you're lying. Kelly is one of those artist that you either like or dislike. Period. This CD is up there with all of his previous work. An artist deseves their props when you automatically know it's their's without needing the cover to confirm. You hear a Timbaland beat you already know it's him. That's how this CD is. You can't hear no other artist but Kelly(even though he collabs with alot). This is strictly his work. Just like MJ reigned in the 80's. RK took over in the 90's and is still here in 2007! The difference between him and the others is that he is an "artist" and not a celeb. Meaning he keeps real no matter what and he doesn't put on a show for the camera's. Please stop the hating and go out and pick up the album. After you play it once you'll find yourself playing it over and over again!

2 and 1/2 Stars That's pretty much it... it's the worst album he's put out. It's a collection of songs that, together, don't sound anything like the R. Kelly we've come to know and love. (if you like him in the first place) Too many guest appearances - some of the songs end up sounding like the other artists' songs, with R. just doing the hooks. The music itself just sounds forced - like he's trying to sound just like everything else thats saturating the music scene nowadays. He even digitizes his voice on more than one occasion. (T-Pain, anyone??) Then... (sigh) there's the CONTENT. R. Kelly is almost 40 years old, if not 40 already. How long is he gonna keep singing/talking about being with young freaks in the club? Sleeping with everybody? Sex this, diamonds that. N**ga this, B**ch that. Pimp this, Ho that... come on man. (In true R. fashion, he tries to offset all of that with 'Rise Up', dedicated to the tragic events at Virginia Tech earler this year. Right.) I'm EXTREMELY disappointed with this album - had been waiting for it for quite awhile. I just KNEW he'd come with FIRE since this album appeared to have been worked on extensively since his last album - which was great, I might add. This CD does absolutely nothing for his image or career, except hurt it. Full of "Trapped in the Closet"-type hooks and laughably corny lyrics, (tell me 'The Zoo' didn't make you giggle when you listened to it) it's the first CD that he's done that really has NO SONG that truly stands out - unless you count the 'I'm A Flirt Remix' that I'm sure you've heard at LEAST 30 times today alone. Most disappointing album in recent memory for me... Short list of highlights include: Double Up (alright for an intro song), Tryin' to Get a Number feat. Nelly (club-type), Hook It Up, and Rock Star feat. Ludacris and Kid Rock (between this and 'Flirt' for best song, and Kellz isn't even the most prominent artist on this song). R - if you're reading this (doubtful): STAY YOUR OLD A$$ OUT OF THE CLUBS, (and H.S. parking lots) kick a few of those females out of the bedroom so you can CONCENTRATE and get BACK in the studio, for your true fans, the ones that were with you since Public Announcement days. We're not 18 anymore - like many of your fans seem to be now. You're not Chris Brown. (lol) Word around camp is U fell off. I'm willing to let this CD slide, but can't take another one. Be eazy...

I think that R Kelly is a very talented man and anything that he makes is wonderful. This Double Up Album is Not the best One that He made but it is Damn Good. I am not surprised that I liked all of the songs that are on this album because there is not one of his sings that I do not like. Boy Do the Damn Thang I love it.
