Parking & car parks
Salford City Council is responsible for all aspects of parking in the city. This includes the maintenance of pay and display car parks and the enforcement of parking regulations under the provisions of the Road Traffic Act 1991. Our pages tell you how to pay penalty charges, apply for a parking permit and the controlled parking zones in Salford.

Parking dispensations
Residents or other road users parking in areas designated as having a residents' parking scheme must display the relevant permit so that it can be read from outside the vehicle otherwise a penalty charge notice may be issued. In some instances a parking dispensation may be issued.

Parking fines
Operational enforcement of parking regulations is undertaken on behalf of Salford City Council by our contractor National Car Parks (NCP). Parking Attendants are empowered to issue Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) to vehicles or motorists when contraventions are seen either on the street or in any car parks that are subject to parking regulations.

Parking for the disabled
Salford City Council provides parking bays for disabled badge holders outside or near their place of residence. The bays act as advisory markings on the carriageway indicating that a disabled person lives close by and that space is the most convenient place for them to park.

Permit for placing a skip on a public highway
Any skip placed on the public highway requires a permit. This must be obtained by the supplying skip company prior to placing a skip on the road for you. We will need to assess the safety implications that may arise from the placing of the skip such as proximity to crossings or junctions, width of the road, etc.

Permits
The Licensing Section is based at the Civic Centre, Swinton and deals with applications, transfers and variations of licences. On many licences consultation takes place with other agencies before a licence can be issued. Salford City Council is also responsible for the licensing of car boot sales, Blue Badges, Game Dealers, Butchers and Fairs and events along with many other functions of licensing. Though these are not dealt with by the Licensing Section you will find any details you require on this web site.

Personal home care can help you to remain independent in your home. You may be able to receive help with personal tasks such as bathing, dressing and eating.

Pest control
Environmental Services provide this service for pests considered to be a risk to public health or food safety including rats, house mice, cockroaches and fleas. A service is also provided to control pests that may become a nuisance in houses such as a wide range of beetles, silverfish, earwigs and wasps. Our pages also contain a guide to charges.
