Camp Shakespeare

Camp

Camp Shakespeare is two weeks of fun workshops for those who want a hands-on experience performing the works of the world's greatest playwright, William Shakespeare.

CampFor many students in English classrooms across the country, the name ‘Shakespeare’ sends a chill of fear through the spine. The goal of Camp Shakespeare is to help kids shed that fear, and to discover the magic and fun of the Immortal Bard through performance. Parents have repeatedly noted a distinct improvement in the English grades of students who have spent just one summer with Camp Shakespeare, and many of the same kids come back to the Camp year after year. Parents are also pleased to give their children the opportunity to be exposed to the high quality of artistry found with the Nebraska Shakespeare Festival.

This year Camp Shakespeare is scheduled for June 25-July 8.

CampOver the course of those two weeks, students work with the professional artists and educators of the Nebraska Shakespeare Festival (NSF), a nationally recognized theatre company. The campers are given the tools necessary to understand Shakespeare’s 400-year-old version of the English language, and to analyze his broad array of exciting and complex plots and characters. On the final three days of the camp, the students are given the opportunity to share their “Shakesperience” by performing for audiences at NSF’s Shakespeare on the Green.

  • Work with the professional artists and educators of Nebraska Shakespeare (a nationally-recognized theatre company in Omaha).
  • Perform this summer at Shakespeare on the Green 2007, during the  Greenshow.
  • All classes include a tour of the Festival, discussions and  workshops with company members.
  • All participants will receive a certificate of achievement and a  souvenir t-shirt.
