The Royals have today signed six youngsters to professional contracts.

Simon Church, Viktor Illugason, Jem Karacan & Hal Robson-Kanu have penned two year deals, while Adam Bygrave & Gylfi Sigurdsson have signed for one year.

Church is an 18-year-old striker who has been with the Club for a number of years and was a regular for our double-winning reserves last season.

Illugason, 17, is an Icelandic u17s international frontman, and he joined from Breidablik during last season. He had scored in the Icelandic league before coming to Madejski Stadium.


Jem Karacan is an 18-year-old central midfielder, who regularly captained our reserves. He is also a Turkish youth international.

Hal Robson-Kanu is an 18-year-old winger or frontman. He has battled back from two serious injuries to forge a real name for himself.

Adam Bygrave is an 18-year-old centre half, and boss Eamonn Dolan described his partnership with Alex Pearce as probably the best in Academy football last season.

Glyfi Sigurdsson is an 18-year-old Iceland youth midfielder. He was in top form last season, scoring an impressive 10 goals.
