Security conditions in Iraq prevented Bachmann from meeting any Iraqis, leaving the Green Zone or staying in Iraq overnight. She and other congressional members were required to wear full body armor, including Kevlar helmets, during the entire trip, she said.

But whether talk radio, be it left or right, is fair to Israel, is, in fact, very important to Harrison. For the past five years, Harrison and his publication have been shepherding more than 50 talk show hosts to Israel in conjunction with America’s Voices for Israel (AVI), a group founded and presided over by Malcolm Hoenlein, executive vice chair of the Conference of Presidents of Major American Jewish Organizations. Harrison, a member of AVI’s board of directors, recently devoted an entire glossy front page of Talkers to these Israel trips. And on one trip, several weeks ago, conducted in conjunction with United Jewish Communities, among the radio personalities traveling with Harrison was Lionel, the uni-monikered host newly hired as Air America’s 9 a.m. mid-morning slot.

More than two million subprime adjustable rate mortgages (ARMs) are poised to reset at much higher rates in coming months, worsening an already suffering housing market.

Borrowers who took out hybrid ARMs in 2004 and 2005 to secure low "teaser" rates for the first two or three years of the loan may see their monthly mortgage payments climb by 35 percent or more.

Consumer groups and politicians worry that hundreds of thousands of subprime ARM borrowers will be unable to keep up with their mortgage payments and will lose their homes.

At the time of the vote, sixty-two percent of the American people favored a time-table for a withdrawal, but, more significantly, "seventy percent" of Democrats were so inclined. Voting against this burgeoning tide of anger betrayed the will of the people and party that put these Democrats in office.

Curiously, all of the traitor democrats were huge career recipients of funds from the Israeli lobby.

Israel and its apologists repeatedly portray Israel as "the only democracy in the Middle East," a uniquely democratic regime in a non-democratic region. Somehow this is supposed to make us feel more sympathetic and justify our support of it. But Israeli democracy is a myth.

The Palestinians in the Occupied Territories live under a Pinochet-like regime. They can and do disappear in the middle of the night. They are blindfolded, cuffed, beaten, humiliated, taken to unknown locations with no information given to them or their families, tortured physically and psychologically and incarcerated indefinitely, often without charges and regardless of whether they are guilty of anything. It is arbitrary and it can happen to anyone. This is a far worse version of the two incidents I described above but the basic principles are the same.

It occurs to me that the Enterprise seems to be getting a lot more press regarding its arrival in the gulf than any of the other carriers, and I don;t think it's because the White House Press Corps are Star Trek fans.

Consider that the Enterprise was commissioned in 1961. It's 46 years old and already scheduled for decommissioning in 5 years.

Right now Bush badly needs some event to re-ignite war-fever and distract the world from his domestic scandals. Israel (which has a prior history of attacking US warships and framing other countries) certainly needs something to trick America into attacking yet another of Israel's enemies.

Maybe the USS Enterprise ought to be renamed the Lusitania?

Iraqi oil experts, national figures, Iraqis of note, politicians and numerous factions in the government had warned that unless redrafted, the bill will definitely become a cause for infighting and eventual division of the country.

That's the plight of the Palestinians who've been "screaming" for six decades following Israel's "war of independence" they call al-Nakba, the catastrophe. In May, 1948, they were deprived of four-fifths of their former land and the remainder for the past 40 years. A central bank is forbidden under the Constitution; yet a central bank (Federal Reserve) seal is visible on every American bill.

John Adams warned the distresses and confusions arising in America are more from "the downright ignorance of coin, credit and circulation" than any defects in the Constitution. Thomas Jefferson saw the banking institutions as most dangerous to our liberties and cautioned against public debt.

We now have catastrophic public debt and our money has been issued by banking institutions since 1913. Those institutions brought us to bankruptcy, which brought about the use of executive orders. Those executive orders, giving power to one, a few or many are what James Madison saw as "the very definition of tyranny."

The US government has thousands of nuclear weapons. Americans worry about Iran getting one or two. But only one government has ever used them against civilians, and it happens to be the one that continues to maintain and modernize its enormous arsenal and claims the right to preemptively use them against other nations that it considers a threat. It also happens to have a tragically bad record at determining what constitutes a threat. Furthermore, it happens to be the government whose nuclear policy Americans have the most business being concerned about, as well as the most chance of changing peacefully. After all, these demonic weapons are financed with our tax money.

Why is there so little outrage about this? By what respectable moral standard can the US claim the right to own and brandish such unspeakably petrifying ordnance?

In an alarming display of fearmongering, former Republican Senator Rick Santorum has suggested that a series of “unfortunate events,” namely terrorist attacks, will occur within the next year and change American citizen’s perception of the war.

Appearing on the Hugh Hewitt radio show, Santorum also hyped the necessity of “confronting Iran in the Middle East,” and predicted that Giuliani, Romney and Tommy Thompson would be the three surviving Republican candidates who would go head to head in the race for the nomination.

This has become standard operating procedure in the USraeli manual to decimate entire societies and peoples in the Arab world that dare to resist the Empire. We saw it applied ruthlessly in Iraq during the "sanctions" years. We all heard Madeleine Albright state that even though those sanctions caused the death of over 500,000 Iraqi children, the results from the American perspective were, "worth it." The total siege of Iraq caused the direct death of well over a million Iraqis in the prelude to the bigger Iraqi genocide still unfolding.

Home owners who have become mired in debt during America's growing housing crisis are falling prey to a booming new industry in "mortgage rescue" scams that end up depriving them of their properties permanently.

The scams lure owners into signing over their deeds to a temporary purchaser after being falsely assured that they will be able to buy the property back when their financial situation improves. Often the paperwork is so complicated that they do not realise they have surrendered ownership.

It has been recently reported that Nancy Pelosi said that impeachment is not “worth it.” Her faulty reasoning is that impeachment would take too much time because they don’t have the votes. If they could “whip” their own Democratic caucus into shape to defend and protect our Constitution and the people of Iraq and our soldiers as they whupped, cajoled, threatened and browbeat the caucus into attaching “non-binding” time lines onto the last war funding bill, then impeachment would not only be possible, but likely.

It is not that Bush believes that he is listening to the directives of God, as he has claimed. It is rather that he – and especially Cheney – believe that they have God-like powers.

Nobody has found any evidence at all that Iran is doing anything other than building a nuclear power station.

Secondly, under the terms of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty, which both Iran and the United States signed, Iran has the legal right to build nuclear power stations. But Israel, which did NOT sign the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and has never allowed inspections of their nuclear weapons plant at Dimona, does not want to lose its nuclear monopoly, and that is why the US is now breaking treaties in order to pressure Iran into abandoning its power station.

In the end, it will not matter even if Iran shuts down their power station. The reactor is just an excuse. Israel wants Iran broken up into pieces (like Iraq) and the US wants cheap oil, so Iran will be invaded unless We The People stop it.

If there were any doubts about the fact that one-time Tennessee senator and actor Fred Thompson was about to run for the Republican nomination for president, it was not due to his recent tiff with filmmaker Michael Moore or his appearances on Fox News and various other venues.

It was the fact that he used a radio commentary spot, the text of which was subsequently published in the on-line version of National Review magazine, to articulate his stout support for Israeli counterattacks against Palestinian missile attacks on the city of Sderot, his firm opposition to Hamas and his skepticism about the Palestinian desire for peace.

Good for Thompson for stating such views. But we are all entitled to notice that articulating these positions (which make him hardly unique among presidential contenders) is a function more of his desire to win support from friends of Israel for his presidential ambitions than anything else.

Libby was one of the co-signers to the seminal document, "Rebuilding America's Defenses," from the Project for a New American Century (PNAC). In contrast to JFK's call that we seek a true peaceful co-existence with other countries, rather than a "pax Americana," the PNAC report calls for just that - ensuring a pax Americana. This is the same report that said, "...the process of transformation, even if it brings revolutionary change, is likely to be a long one, absent some catastrophic and catalyzing event - like a new Pearl Harbor."

For visitors to be temporarily detained at the border is not in itself unusual but, Akcam told CBC News, the evidence the security officers showed him when he asked why they had detained him was: a page containing a tampered Wikipedia entry from December.

"I recognized the page at once," Akcam would later write on the website of the University of Minnesota, where he is a visiting professor. "The still photo and the text beneath it comprised my biography in the English-language edition of Wikipedia, the online encyclopedia which anyone in the world can modify at any time. For the last year — most recently on Christmas Eve, 2006 — my Wikipedia biography had been persistently vandalized by anonymous 'contributors' intent on labelling me as a terrorist."

OK, folks, here's what this article should have said:

"Ali-Reza Asgari, the Iranian general who was abducted in Turkey 6 months ago, is currently being detained in a US prison, and none of his family, friends, or members of the Red Cross or Red Crescent, have seen him since.

After innumerable torture sessions in the process of his interrogation (electric shock, water boarding, beatings, threats to his family, etc, the usual American "interrogation fare"), he blurted out, in between screams, that Iran has also developed the technology to enrich uranium with lasers - a technology the IAEA has confirmed Iran has been using since.....drum roll, please..... August of 2004! (see:http://www.iranwatch.org/privateviews/ First%20Watch/perspex-fwi-Laser.pdf.)

So if this is "old news", why the sudden breathless interest in what this guy had to say?

The answer is, absolutely nothing we don't already know, and have known, for the last 3 years.

Can you remember the last candidate who generated this kind of spontaneous excitement in the public?

Posted Jul 8, 2007 09:52 AM PST
Category: POLITICS/CORRUPTION

There are two points to this story I wish to call your attention to. First off, while John McCain is included in this funding round-up, Ron Paul, who has more money than McCain, is never mentioned. Clearly, the mainstream media is still trying to pretend Paul does not exist. Why are they so afraid?

Second, take a look at the vast sums of money flowing to the favored candidates. Where does that come from? Not from ordinary Americans. There are limits on how much money we can donate to a candidate. So where are these big-bucks donations coming from? Drug runners? Organized crime? Are these vast sums of money coming from foreign governments?

And what will those big-money donors expect in return for their cash? The lives of your children spent in wars for that foreign government? Or maybe just turning a blind eye as drugs are sold to your children; no real efforts to stop the drugs other than some token and ineffectual TV commercials.

The truth is that under our current laws regarding campaign finance, having a lot of money does not mean the candidate has a lot of popular support. It means they have sold out to big money interests. Fred Thompson is a good example. Now he is pushing an anti-abortion agenda, but previously, for the right price, he lobbied in FAVOR of abortion.

Politicians get money because they are SELLING SOMETHING. Right now they sell you and your children to a warring foreign government. Or they sell you as customers to the drug criminals. Or some other "deal with the devil" that has yet to make itself known.

The bottom line, as we go into 2008, is that candidates with vast sums of cash should be viewed with a deep suspicion, because it is impossible to know where much of that money comes from, or what promises were made by the candidate to get it. We do know that AIPAC (accused of spying on the US for Israel) boasts of its ability to control the US Government, and they are among the richest of the donors out there.

So maybe the very best thing the voter can do this next election is steer clear of the candidates who seem to have all the money they need. Money at that scale is never free. It comes with strings. It comes with expectations. It comes with an awareness of debt; debts that are often hidden from the voting public and with good reason.

Personally, the fact that Giuliani has such vast sums of cash at his disposal is the primary reason I will never vote for him.

It is essentially timely to bring pressure to bear for these, Sami and all those in the limbo of their solitary cells in Guantanamo and shameful secret prisons around the globe, at a time when one man, Alan Johnson, has expressed so eloquently what being held alone, hostage, means - and how precious freedom is. Their lives are no less precious, those who love them no less agonised.

So long as Guantanamo and other 'secret prison sites' stand, the very fabric of what this country has long cherished in terms of human rights, is in danger of being completely torn asunder.

If we do not get them closed down, the next gulags, courtesy of this or a future administration, will be for Americans who simply dislike - or disagree with - the actions taken by that administration.

Excerpt from the secret CIA assessment submitted to President Truman November 28, 1947 on the eve of the UN "vote" and titled "The Consequences of the Partition of Palestine" (Now Declassified document): "Armed hostilities between Jews and Arabs will break out if the UN General Assembly accepts the plan to partition Palestine into Jewish and Arab states....The Jews are expected to be able to mobilize some 200,000 fighters in Palestine.. The Jewish armed groups in Palestine are well equipped and well trained in commando tactics. Initially they will achieve marked success over the Arabs because of superior organization and equipment....The US by supporting partition has already lost much of its prestige in the Near East In the event that partition is imposed on Palestine, the resulting conflict will seriously disturb the social, economic, and political stability of the Arab world, and US commercial and strategic interests will be dangerously jeopardized. ..The poverty, unrest, and hopelessness upon which Communist propaganda thrives will increase throughout the Arab world. (and later in the document, p. 6) US prestige on the other hand has steadily decreased with each new indication that the US supports the Zionists. The good will enjoyed by the US at the time of the Roosevelt-Ibn Saud Conference and following backing of Lebanese and Syrian claims for independence was short lived as a result of President Truman's support of Jewish immigration to Palestine and of the Anglo-American Committee report. Because of the long standing cultural ties between the US and the Arab world, the friendly role that the US played in the achievement of Syrian and Lebanese independence, the partial dependence of certain Arab states on oil royalties from US companies, and the promise of increased royalties in the future, the Arab states would like to maintain friendly relations with the US. ... Little of this (positive) development will be possible, if the US supports a Jewish state in Palestine."

The difference between so-called Democrats and Republicans on the wars is absolutely none: both party candidates will continue taking that money and those percs from defense contractors (and people representing a certain foreign government) without one single, small twinge of conscience (probably because they had that surgically removed before they originally ran for office).

Because someone in the Pentagon noticed I had worked for United Press International, I was called out on my last day of basic and redirected to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. I ultimately became editor of the post newspaper, the Pointer View.

So in the end, my personal risk in my military career was limited to some really awful haircuts. But the names of 58,000 of my comrades engraved on a wall in Washington, D.C., prove that my story could have ended differently. Those names also explain why I will never forgive anyone who willfully puts the lives of America's military or intelligence personnel or our friends abroad in danger.

Bush learned how to rule ruthlessly though he is hated by the people. Hitler never got more than 37 percent of the vote in several elections called over a short period of time ending with the act of terrorism that Hitler would exploit to consolidate his dictatorship. That act was the Reichstag Fire, Hitler's 911. It's hard to imagine that anyone would dare go back to the well given the press "Reichstag" gets. Nevertheless, the tactic, having proved successful for Nazis would be tried again. No one every accused Bush of being imaginative. His gang would simply repeat a tired, old Nazi tactic and expect the people to go along. And, for the most part, the people did precisely that.

It is a well-established and deliberately unaddressed historical fact that the CIA created "radical Islam" and Islamic "terrorism" during the Cold War. It is also a documented fact that the US, its allies, and their intelligence agencies (CIA, Pakistan’s ISI, Britain’s MI-6, etc.) have -- from the 1970s to the present day -- continued to use and guide terrorist groups, including "Al-Qaeda," as intelligence and propaganda assets.
