Born in San Luis, Argentina, Erica Cornejo began her study of ballet at the age of four. In 1994, she was invited to join Julio Bocca’s company, Ballet Argentino, where she was promoted to principal ballerina and Bocca’s partner in 1995.

Cornejo joined ABT’s Studio Company in May 1998 and, later the same year, she joined American Ballet Theatre as a member of the corps de ballet. Her roles with the Company include a Shade in La Bayadère, the fourth movement in Bruch Violin Concerto No. 1, the Lead Pirate Woman in Le Corsaire, a flower girl in Don Quixote, His Experiences in HereAfter, Clara in The Nutcracker, the Debutante in Offenbach in the Underworld, the Cowgirl in Rodeo and leading roles in Amazed in Burning Dreams, Black Tuesday, Gong, Petite Mort, Sechs Tänze and workwithinwork. She created leading roles in "...smile with my heart" and Within You Without You: A Tribute to George Harrison.

Erica Cornejo was appointed a Soloist in April 2003 and is the sister of ABT Principal Herman Cornejo.
