Housing Development and Management Services: Ridgewood Bushwick Senior Citizens Council has developed and constructed 3 Section 202 projects for the elderly. Another one is in construction. By 2002, 337 units will provide our senior citizens safe, affordable, and decent homes in which to spend their “golden years.” Our developments feature sensitive management and an array of social services to meet our seniors’ social, health, and physical needs.






SENIOR CITIZENS HOUSING


The Ridgewood Bushwick Bushwick Senior Citizens Houses opened in 1991 as our first Section 202 development. It has 60 apartments with a full range of community facilities on ground floor. On either side are two developed parks available for the tenants’ pleasure.




Unit Count: 59 Available Unit: 0


Rental rates and Security Deposit Information: Tenant average rental rate is $173.90. Rents are adjusted based on 30% of tenant’s annual income. First month’s rent and security deposit is required upon signing of lease.


Maximum Eligible Income: one person, $20,700 and 2 persons, $23,650. Residents are annually recertified to comply with income guidelines.


Eligibility requirements: 62 years and/or handicapped with no age limit.


Special population: Handicapped/ persons with disabilities.


Amenities provided: 24-hour security, elevator, laundry facilities, and on site parking. On site social service coordinators provide case management, advocacy, escort service, friendly visits, individual and family counseling and regular health and nutrition


Activities: Tenants are encouraged to participate in our education, recreation and socialization programs. Activities include – yoga, ethnic dance and exercise, birthday and holiday parties, arts and crafts, and English as a Second Language classes.

GOODWIN PLACE HOUSING FOR THE ELDERLY


Goodwin Place Housing for the Elderly was our second federally funded 202 project and opened in late 1991. It has 100 units with a first floor of community facilities. Directly across the street is a park developed with individual garden plots for tenants, sitting area, and fountain.

PLAZA DE LOS ANCIANOS


Plaza de los Ancianos opened in 1997 as our third 202 project and has 95 apartments. It has a distinctive “L” shaped design and has many design amenities. A well-designed community facility on the ground floor is available to all tenants for social events.

EVERGREEN PLAZA
AVAILABLE FEBRUARY 2002


Evergreen Plaza Currently under construction, our fourth development, consists of 82 units situated on Evergreen Avenue and Troutman Street, scheduled to open in 2002. This building is also in an “L” shape and will have a distinctive glass wall. It features many the design innovations to provide high quality housing for senior citizens. This development, our finest to date, may be renamed the Yolanda Lopez Residence for the Elderly after the late mother of our founder, Vito J. Lopez.
