"Homeschooling Today has been my favorite educational magazine for years. Who would have thought it would get even better? It has! I appreciate the scope and depth of the articles and the practical and balanced information. And best of all I am grateful for the rich Christian heritage that is presented on every page."

Homeschooling Today

Our TeamSince 1992, Homeschooling Today® magazine continues to be one of the most respected and popular magazines serving the homeschooling community. We look back at our past with thankfulness to all those who have helped shape the magazine into the quality publication it is today. As we look to the future, we continue to be committed to providing encouragement, exhortation, and support for your homeschooling experience.

Publisher/Owner: Steve Murphy - Steve is the new Publisher of Homeschooling Today magazine. For the last decade, Steve has been involved in business sales and management, most recently providing for his growing homeschooling family by starting and running a construction company. He has served as a regional support group board member leading the charge to exhort homeschooling fathers and husbands to assume their God-given duty to be the leaders of their homes, including sanctifying their wives and educating their children. Steve is committed to the discipleship of his seven (soon to be eight, Lord willing) children, of men of God, and of his wife, Kara.

Editor: Kara Murphy - Steve's chief helper, Kara is mother to six boys and one girl and a baby due in September 2007. A wife, mother, and homemaker, she has also enjoyed providing practical support to homeschooling families through writing unit studies. Kara serves as a staff editor for Homeschooling Today magazine. After her first priority of being a loving wife and mother, her passion is encouraging young homeschooling mothers in their journey.

The Murphy clan lives in the shadow of Little Mountain on Five Springs Farm, and are members of Christchurch of Abingdon, Virginia.

Jim Bob and Amy HowardEditor-In-Chief/Owner: Jim Bob Howard - Jim Bob has worn many hats, having served homeschoolers in several capacities: as a regional support group board member, conference host, newsletter editor, writer, and most recently as assistant to nationally-known homeschool author and speaker, R. C. Sproul Jr., a regular columnist of Homeschooling Today magazine. In addition to his roles in support of homeschoolers, Jim Bob spent several years in information technology, primarily in application and web development. Jim Bob is blessed to be married to Amy, the love of his life, his confidante and the mother of his four children, so far.

Editress-In-Chief: Amy Howard - Amy is the gracious helpmeet of Jim Bob, and assists him in his role as Editor-in-Chief. A popular and gifted blogger, Amy made her debut as a published writer in the Late Fall 2006 issue of Homeschooling Today with much fear and trepidation. Yet, she has already garnered a following of women who look to her for encouragement in their role as wife and mother.

Jim Bob, Amy and their children live on a hillside outside Abingdon, Virginia, and are members of Saint Peter Presbyterian Church in Bristol.

James and Stacy McDonaldConsulting Editors: James and Stacy McDonald - James is a husband and a homeschooling father to ten children. The former publisher of Homeschooling Today magazine, James is also the pastor of PROVIDENCE CHURCH in Peoria, Illinios. He has served the homeschool community as a conference speaker and writer. Stacy is wife to James, homeschooling mother to the McDonald family, writer, and conference speaker. She has been published in various Christian magazines and websites, and is the author of the popular book Raising Maidens of Virtue.
