Learning from the EdgeEngaging and motivating young adults
Participants will learn about: Government strategy and plans to support and engage marginalised and ‘hard to reach’ young adults in learningThe experiences and aspirations of individual young adult learners – what motivates and helps them to achieveInnovative and effective approaches to work with ‘hard to reach’ groups, from successful projectsWinners of the YALP national awards. Participants will also have the opportunity to use a range of e-approaches to contribute to the conference, including a video booth, hand-held electronic voting systems and graffiti white boards.

What's on Offer? Engaging Black and Minority Ethnic adult learners in museum and gallery education
The conference will take place as part of the national commemoration of the abolition of the slave trade (200 years) and will broadly focus on including non-traditional learning in education programmes delivered from museums, libraries and archives. A subsidiary theme for the conference will be around black history and how this can be used as a touchstone to encourage non-traditional learners to participate in education programmes delivered from museums, libraries and archives.

Reputation Management in Further EducationPromoting excellence, driving demand, providing skills for the future
This conference will offer an assessment of proposed reforms and current initiatives and link the discussion to questions about how to realise them locally, regionally and nationally. Bringing together senior representatives from further education, regional stakeholders and FE experts and organisations, the conference will discuss how to establish a demand-led FE system, look at qualification and curriculum reforms, investigate new funding models and assess how to raise quality and diversity within the sector.
