B.K. Chandrashekar says district units given freedom on alliance at zilla and taluk panchayats

DAVANGERE: The former Minister B.K. Chandrashekar said that it is wrong for the Janata Dal (Secular) to ask the Congress not to hold any truck with the All India Progressive Janata Dal (AIPJD) in zilla and taluk panchayats.

The Congress leader told presspersons here on Sunday that his party had not given any commitment to the Janata Dal (S) before the elections in this regard.

Mr. Chandrashekar asked the Janata Dal (S) President H.D. Deve Gowda what was wrong in the Congress and the AIPJD in forming ruling coalition in zilla and taluk panchayats. Mr. Chandrashekar said his party High Command has given freedom to the district units of the party on having alliance with any party other than the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

To a question, he said the BJP will lose its identity if it joins hands with the Janata Dal (S) to topple the Government.

The Janata Dal (S), which claimed to be secular, dare not seek the support of the BJP to form a new government in the State.
