On the sunnyside of Louisville, on the banks of the Ohio River, is a town that more than 22,000 people and 600 businesses call home. Located between Jeffersonville and New Albany, Clarksville is a blend of old historic sites and new shopping, business and residential areas.


Falls of the Ohio State Park

The Falls of the Ohio fossil beds are the world's largest exposed fossils of the Devonian Age. Located above the fossil beds is the Interpretive Center, with displays that tell the story of the Falls area. Falls of the Ohio State Park, 201 W. Riverside Drive, (812) 280-9970.

Clarksville Parks

Clarksville has eleven parks located in the town with a variety of activities, including softball, tennis, basketball, shelters and playgrounds. A walking, jogging, biking trail will be ready for use in the spring of 2000. Wooded View Golf Course is one of the busiest 18-hole courses in the metropolitan area. The Clarksville Family Aquatic Center is an award-winning facility that attracts thousands each summer. Wooded View Golf Courseis located at 2404 Greentree North, (812) 283-9274. Schools

Clarksville has two high schools, one public (grades 9-12) and one parochial junior/senior high school (grades 7-12); one public middle school (grades 6-8) and four elementary schools, three public (grades K-5) and one parochial (grades K-8). Theaters

Clarksville Little Theater, one of the oldest continuously running community theaters in the United States, and Derby Dinner Playhouse, the only dinner theater in the area, are located in the south section of the town and provide year-round entertainment. Malls/Movie Theaters

Lewis and Clark Parkway is one of the main retail shopping areas. Dillard's, Sears, J.C. Penney, and many specialty shops are located in Green Tree Mall. The second largest Bass Pro Shop in the nation is the main store in River Falls Mall. New shopping areas are developing along Veterans Parkway with stores including Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Lowes, Target, Best Buy, and many more.

There are 10 screens at the Greentree Cinema, adjacent to the Greentree Mall.
