Ask the Senate to Keep Up the Pressure on Sudan!

Posted August 2, 2007 by Sam Bell

Thanks in part to your phone call, on Tuesday the House of Representatives passed the Darfur Accountability and Divestment Act (DADA) 418 to 1! Later that day, the United Nations Security Council unanimously passed a resolution authorizing the deployment of an UN–African Union hybrid force of up to 26,000 peacekeepers to Darfur.

Call 1-800-GENOCIDE now and ask your senator to support DADA!

To ensure the government of Sudan accepts these peacekeepers, we must increase the pressure on Sudan's leaders. Now that the House has passed legislation that would put real economic pressure on the government of Sudan, the Senate must act!

Now the Senate has an unprecedented opportunity to pass the most significant piece of legislation to date on Darfur.

Call 1-800-GENOCIDE now and ask your senator to support DADA!

Victory! Important Legislation Passes House

Posted July 31, 2007 by Sam Bell

Thanks to your efforts, the Darfur Accountability and Divestment Act (DADA) passed the House of Representatives today by a vote of 418 to 1.

In the past 24 hours more than 200 members of Congress received as many as 15 phone calls each from constituents urging support for DADA.

This bipartisan bill is the most substantial piece of Darfur legislation to pass the House of Representatives since the genocide began.

DADA will ensure that Americans are not funding genocide in Darfur and will increase pressure on the government of Sudan to allow a robust UN peacekeeping force, disarm the Janjaweed militias and participate in peace negotiations.

Thank you for calling your representatives!
