Young Pioneers honoured on BrigadeÂ’s 65th anniversary

HA NOI — Vice President Truong My Hoa yesterday awarded prizes to 65 outstanding children from across the nation at a ceremony to celebrate the 65th founding anniversary of the Ho Chi Minh Young Pioneers’ Brigade.

Present at the ceremony, organised by the Executive Council of the Young PioneersÂ’ Brigade in the capital city of Ha Noi, were Vice President Truong My Hoa, permanent member of the Party Central CommitteeÂ’s Secretariat Truong Tan Sang, leaders from the PioneersÂ’ Brigade and children from all corners of the country.

A performance was presented by children to celebrate the anniversary.

The Ho Chi Minh Young PioneersÂ’ Brigade was founded on May 15, 1941 with its first five members. After 65 years, the brigade has grown to include 12 million pioneers and 7 million childr members nationwide.

The brigade has through the years organised many effective movements and activities.

During the past academic year, children across the country collected nearly 4 million pieces of clothing and more than 4.4 million books and notebooks for disadvantaged children. Eighty friendship houses were also built to help shelter disadvantaged children. — VNS
