Aiight Y'all Let's Put This Kelly Rowland ISH To Bed

Last night Kells celebrated the release of Ms. Kelly.

bout all the advertising music world could conjure up...

Kells party was held at The Guesthouse... they played about 4 of her songs... Bey set it off.... peeps get hella star struck when she enters the building.

Yesterday Hits Daily finaled out their weekly cd sales. Check it out.

She's got a few more albums in her contract.... we can either hope for better luck next time, or pray she has a second single that takes off ala Mariah Carey's "We Belong Together." And to tell the truth, there are at least two tracks on that CD, that if given the proper attention, can have Ms. Kelly, the cd and the DC, posted up at #1. But y'all don't hear me.

Click, dial tone... good bye.

  • Sad. I Kelly's album is one of those albums that after listening to once or twice, there's no urge to listen to it again. However, there are a few joints on there that can push her album like you said, Soulman. By the way, what up Soul Man!

  • I think "Every Thought Is You" or "Still In Love WIth My Ex" or "Ghetto" could really make an impact.

  • Ok, about the event last night, they played 5 songs from the album, that were dance/club bangers repeatedly! all night. Yes, Beyonce did cause a fenzy when she came into the building, but her and Jay Z were definitely there to support. Kelly looked AMAZING! and the gays were there to show her some luv by the truck load. It was a cool event.

  • of course Kelly can't shine because she was known as an underdog and a flop even before the album was released. from the minute i saw that wack ass cover and heard that lukewarm 1st single i knew she was gonna flop hard (and so did all of y'all). i agree with those songs Soul Man but unfortuneately they don't have the power to carry her through to platinum status (We Belong Together was a str8 classic). she will go Gold at best, if that. wathc how far she drops next week. it will be bad lol! if u wanna help her Soulman why don't u try posting a picture of KELLY ROWLAND on the KELLY ROWLAND post LMAO!!!!

  • A release during the usually quiet 4th of July week didn't deter sales of T.I.'s "T.I. vs. T.I.P.," which shifted 468,000 units in the United States, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and debuts at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 and the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The Grand Hustle/Atlantic set is T.I.'s second chart-topper in the past year-and-a-half; "King" opened at No. 1 on The Billboard 200 with 522,000 copies in late March 2006.

After entering at the summit last week, Miley Cyrus' double-disc set "Hannah Montana 2 (Soundtrack)/Meet Miley Cyrus" (Disney) slips to No. 2 with 188,000 units, a sales decrease of 42%. Kelly Clarkson's RCA set "My December" follows suit, falling 2-3 with 113,000 (-61%). Bon Jovi's "Lost Highway" (Island) descends a rung 3-4 with 94,000, taking a 25% hit.

Velvet Revolver's sophomore RCA album, "Libertad," debuts at No. 5 with 92,000. The supergroup's first album, 2004's "Contraband," climbed onto the chart at No. 1 with 256,000.

Another sophomore set bows inside the top tier this week as Kelly Rowland's Music World/Columbia set "Ms. Kelly" debuts at No. 6 with 82,000. The former Destiny's Child singer was last on the chart in 2002, when her solo debut "Simply Deep" entered and peaked at No. 12 with 77,000.

Brad Paisley's "5th Gear" (Arista Nashville) moves 5-7 after a 27% drop to 59,000, while Amy Winehouse's "Back to Black" (Universal) falls 6-8 with 57,000 (-9%) in its 17th week on the chart.

Linkin Park's "Minutes to Midnight" (Machine Shop/Warner Bros.) descends 8-9 with 57,000, a 1% decline. The White Stripes' "Icky Thump" (Third Man/Warner Bros.) is down 4-10 after a 37% sales slide to 56,000.

Warner Bros.' "Transformers: The Album" soundtrack debuts at No. 21 this week with 32,000, while Victory rock act Silverstein's fourth album, "Arrivals & Departure," earns the group its best charting week yet, entering at No. 25 with 27,000. Other big debuts this week include Grupo Montez De Durango's "Agarrese" (Disa) at No. 41 with 18,000 and Sara Bareilles' "Little Voice" (Epic) at No. 45 with 16,000.

Sales this week are down 1.1% compared to last week's sum at 8.73 million units and down 3% compared to the same week last year.

  • I think thats actually pretty good for Kelly. Her album is pretty decent, especially since I went out on a limb and bought it.

Seriously though we need to stop putting so much emphasis on 1st week numbers. What were Robin Thicke's 1st week numbers? That has got to be one of the slowest burns ever.

  • Well, at least it debuted in the top 10 ... I still love the album and Kelly. Fantasia's didn't even do that well it's first week out - and that's a good album too. I hope she comes to DC because I'd like to see Kelly do her thing. Do your thing sexy brown-skinned sister, we still love ya!

  • Hey Soulman! I agree. Those are two very strong songs that could do very well on the album. They also should try to cross-promote her more. B/c her songs could do really well on adult contemporary also. This CD in some cases could sell to Celine and Faith Hill type fans. I actually love the album and think it could have a lot of potential.

  • I really like "Love" off of Kelly's CD!! I like "Ghetto" too, but I think the white audience wouldn't care to much for it (a la Fantasia's "Hood Boy")

I really didn't like her cd when I first heard it but I love it now. You can't expect it to catch you right off the back. You have to listening. "The Show" with Tank is good... All of it is pretty decent. She's not Beyonce we keep forgetting nor or she trying to be. She is smooth R&B so therefore she lives up to the title!!

  • Yo soulman, how's Kelly's 1st week sales bad when she's done better than her last album? Honestly you can't expect her to do Beyonce numbers when she doesn't get Beyonce type promo? I'm actually happy for her, 82k in a slow week when all the white kids (who BUY music) went out to get the over hyped TI set. Go Kelly, keep ya heard up!

  • Yea, Robin Thicke only did like 56K his first week out, dropped, and slowly rose back up. Now he is platinum. So you never know. Besides, they love them some Kelly overseas so she'll be alright.

From here on, it's going to be all about where and when she performs live. She needs to hurry up and jump on somebody's tour and get her music out there. And Rihanna only sold like what, 120K and her single was No. 1 for EVER so you just never know what people dig these days. Maybe when she re-releases it with 4 extra songs, 3 remixes in Korean, a free Barbie, 9 posters, a Target gift card, and a video anthology, she'll get those high numbers. LOL

  • Mary J is the most overrated singer since Diana Ross (so-called legend) so why can't Keyshia be "the next Mary?"

And to compare what Robin Thicke did to what you hope Kelly will do doesn't make sense. When Robin came out he was really unknown and gradually built a slow, gradual buzz and his sales started to climb. Then he finally officially dropped 'Lost Without You'. Kelly on the other hand is by no means an unknown, brand-new artist. There was no hype and her music wasn't worthy of any.

    TRUTH HURTS

  • I love Kelly's singing and I hope she does well, but I saw a picture of Kelly the other day, her beauty is flawless. WOW. She actually looks like a black barbie doll. She should try some modeling on top of all of this because she has the height and the build for high fashion modeling. Keep singing, but add to that resume. If Beyonce hasn't taught you ANYTHING, she has taught all of us to add to that resume.

  • Latoya Luckett will be the next Mary WHAT?? The Mary Jane Girl? Please that chick sucks live!! She is all studio, Keyshia Cole is the closest we have ever gotten to another Mary J Blige. Her music speaks that familiar Mary J pain, that hood fell in love with.

  • Listen up, on Kells last album she tried to go the pop route rather than R&B. But on Ms. Kelly album she grew out of that phase that's why she got EVE on her first single and gave us a club banger. She also enlisted Tank to write some songs on this album. So now she on the right route we should be showing her some love and coping dat album. And lets prove to Matthew Knowles that Kelly can out sing, out perform, and out shine his daughter (beyonce) any day... Ya'll need to see that movie "The Seat Filler" ft Kells and Duane Martin, then ya'll know why i'm so hype on Kells. *She can SANG and is FINE!!!*

Cop that Sunshine Anderson in stores now!!

  • Po Kells, a yo she deserve mo credit than she be gettin. and she can really sang, fo damn sure. but whats really fucked up is that she might never be able to outshine that goddamn Beyonce (cant stand that ho)despite the fact that she is better than her. but i have me a feelin that kelly's album is gonna be the shit and it will go multiplatinum cuz she be doin her thang. I can't wait for her to spit it in Matthew knowles's face and his beloved daughter (beyonce) + fam that she doesn't need destiny's child to be her best. Deuces, i go by the name Tee-Tee and if i offended any of you punk ass beyonce pussies step down to jersey and get at me. x3
