Last Updated: September, 2006.       ( Recent changes. )

5-18-06 - Due to the death of my wife, Julie, there may not be many changes for a while.

Versions 2.4y1 and 9.6y1:
6/07/05 - allow quotes in lfn (single arg) on command line
6/20/05 - change CED default to off so can use ESCcape with Find/Scan

12-7-04: LIST Enhanced is now available for $29 which includes one year of free updates, or at the old price of $49 which now includes lifetime free updates with manual, or for $20 for a version upgrades with liftime free updates.

12-07-02: You may have noticed that the web site has been redesigned. It was done by Doug McKirahan.
He really did a very nice job, and you can see some of his other work at www.McKirahan.com/WebProductions.

Long file names are now supported in Windows 9x/Me and Windows 2000 and XP.
Note: Windows XP now limits the short filename pathname in DOS (command line) to 64 characters by design.
See Microsoft Knowledge Base Article - 241712.

Current LIST Enhanced is 2.4y1.
Current LIST Plus is 9.6y1; (see LISTPLUS.ZIP).
Current LISTOPT is 2.30 (11/19/2001); adds option for alt-D sorting of directory names.

Here's a network printing tip from Klaus:

Hello Vern,

printing with Win NT, Win 2000 and Win XP on an network printer is
quite simple. I`ve found a way to get this thing going.

- - - Open a window with the cmd.exe

- - - type in the following string: "net use lpt1:\\Servername\Printername "

- - - followed by: "net use / persistent:yes"
(to make the change lasting and printing runs!)

Please feel free to try it out yourself, and maybe add this
information to your Docfile.

... nice greetings from Munich, Bavaria

Klaus ...

Here's a small graphic file viewer from Stefan:

Vern,I would like to point you to a very simple way of using LIST as
a picture viewer in conjunction with my LXPIC viewer.

If you rename LXPIC.COM to EDIT.COM and put the cursor in LIST
on any JPG, GIF, PCX or BMP file and press 'e', the image is
displayed. Press ESC to exit from the image view and you are
back in LIST. It's just that simple.

LXPIC has only 19 KB code and uses only 64 KB of memory.

Instead of renaming LXPIC to EDIT, it would be nice indeed to
have a seperate "shell" for LXPIC, similar to the EDIT or FV
shell, thereby keeping the ability to edit files. A special key
to invoke LXPIC must be defined too.

IMHO this would enhance the usefulness of LIST even more.
LXPIC is freeware and I wouldn't mind, if you bundle it with
LIST. The home of LXPIC is: http://home.t-online.de/home/stefan.peichl/lxpic.zip

The zip file is also attached to this email.

What do you think?

Regards
Stefan

LIST Enhanced now has the Ctrl-L command from the file selection menu to invoke LXPIC.COM.

Works in progress:
The current versions of LIST support long file names under Windows 9x/ME/XP and 2000.
A 32-bit version is in the works which will support LFN under Windows NT 4.0.
It's a ways off yet. Windows Me and XP seem to support LIST's use of long
file names just fine. They sure are folksy, though!

The LJBOOK and SORTF programs are also being converted to handle long file
names, virtual memory, etc. Any interest in these program? Let me know what
you're looking for by emailing me at vern@buerg.com.
