Central Midland Area
formed in Western Command to encompass counties of Warwickshire & Worcestershire (transferred from South Midland Area) and Herefordshire (transferred from Welsh Area)

Mid-West District
reorganised for troop administration with HQ at Shrewsbury by amalgamation with South Wales Area, North Wales Area (including Shropshire) and transfer of Staffordshire from West Lancs Area

1946.10.28 training functions reorganised with regiments scattered in F Group and Infantry Training Centre (R Warwickshire Regt) and K Group and Infantry Training Centre (Worcestershire Regt, S Staffordshire Regt, N Staffordshire Regt), L Group and Infantry Training Centre (R Welch Fus, S Wales Borderers, Welch Regt), and J Group and Infantry Training Centre (K Shropshire LI), and Primary Training Centres established in locations of old regimental depots (using old district numbers) to carry out initial recruit training
  1948.07.01 F Group redesignated Midland Brigade; K Group redesignated Mercian Brigade; L Group redesignated Welsh Brigade
  1948 PTCs closed, and all training taken over by Brigade Infantry Training Centres
  1951 ITCs closed and training resumed at old regimental depot PTCs
  1959 regimental depots closed, and training resumed by Brigade Infantry Training Centres
  1961 48 Division/West Midland District
HQ remained at Shrewsbury; Wales separated to form
53 (Welsh) Division/Wales District
1968? West Midland District
  1972.04. transferred to UK Land Forces
198u Western District
1995.04.01 amalgamated with North West District and Wales, to form 5th Division
