(updated 2005-08-10) The prize fund at all Ware Chess Club sponsored events is 80% of the entry fee or higher, while most other tournament organizers have a lower percent as their prize fund. I can give the higher amounts only by getting a good number of entries at the tournaments, and by keeping my expenses low. A higher number of entries benefit the players as well as organizers. I am struggling to keep the prizes high by doing a massive amount of advertising. You can help me keep my expenses down by spreading the word about my tournaments, and by bringing extra copies of fliers with you to your club or to tournaments you enter. Also, please answer the questions at the bottom of the entry form so that I may cut the expense of ineffective advertising. Thank You.
(2005-06-01) In February 2005 John Dould volunteered to be the Editor for The Western Massachusetts Chess Association (WMCA). Because of him, WMCA is continuing The Skittles Room newsletter. To join WMCA and receive the newest issue of The Skittles Room use a WMCA Membership Form in the Forms section of this website. Please make extra copies of the form to give to your friends who do not have website access.
(2005-03-17) Please submit your games from any U.S.C.F. rated tornament played in Berkshire, Franklin, Hampden, Hampshire, or Worcester county. They can be posted in the Past Events section of this website.
I am trying to find more clubs in Western Massachusetts to list on this website. Do you know of any in your area? Please contact Ed Kostreba by any means listed in the contacts section of this website, if you have any information about a chess club not listed on this website.
Many thanks to Tony Sillars for the original creation of this website in 1995 and for serving as its webmaster until 2002.
