It is very important that you compare pricing based on a constant unit of measure. Try not to think of your inks in "pails, or buckets".
This is why:
5 gallons = 18.925 liters
And 20 Liters = 5.284 gallons.
It is very easy to make a mistake when comparing one vendor to another if one sells a 5-gallon pail and the other sells a 20-liter pail.
It is important for you to be able to make the distinction between 5 gallons, and 20 liters.
The following conversion factors are used in converting one unit of measure to another.
We have designed this Conversion Program for you, to simplify the process and ensure that you can perform an accurate and fair cost analysis.
1 US Gallon = 3.785 liters
1 Liter of dye ink = 2.247 lbs.
1 Liter of pigmented ink = 2.313 lbs
Volumetric measures converted to weight must consider the Specific Gravity as compared to water (1.0). Dye inks average a SG of 1.02, and pigmented inks average 1.05. They essentially weigh more than water.
