Traffic management plan for Stones at Slane

AA Roadwatch has announced that there will be a major traffic management plan in operation to facilitate the fans attending the Rolling Stones concert at Slane Castle.

Over 70,000 people are expected to attend tomorrow's sold out show, the band's first Irish concert for 25 years.

The traffic management plan will be in place from 8am Saturday morning until 2am Sunday morning.

AA Roadwatch Controller Nicola Hudson said: "We are expecting a large amount of traffic on all approach roads to Slane and we would urge everyone to give themselves a few hours extra to get to the concert."

Warnings have also been issued to people travelling in the region.

"Anyone not going to the Rolling Stones, who is travelling around Meath, should allow extra time for any journey as extensive diversions will be in place around Slane and the surrounding area," said Hudson.

Dublin Bus will provide services to the concert and concert promoters MCD are strongly recommending that people use public transport.

They have also advised concertgoers to leave plenty of time for driving to and from the concert and that people should dress appropriately for the weather.

Car parks open at 12pm and the Rolling Stones are scheduled to be on stage at 8pm.

Live show day traffic updates will be available from AA Roadwatch ( and on RTÉ 2fm.
