The Minneapolis Board of Education is a policy-making body responsible for selecting the superintendent and overseeing the district's budget, curriculum, personnel and facilities. The school board is granted authority to carry out these duties by the State of Minnesota and the Minnesota Legislature.
Strategic Planning
Beginning in May 2007, Minneapolis Public Schools officially launched its strategic planning process. With the pro bono assistance of McKinsey & Company, the school district will begin by gathering data to inform future actions.
A strategic plan is the long-range map that guides district-level work. It provides:
- A description of our destination.
- The direction we need to go.
- The areas of focus for our work.
