M. Ward - absolutely gorgeous for autumn listening
Post-War - blissfully excellent album
I have been listening to a brilliant singer songwriter recently - a certain - M. Ward in my somewhat melancholic mood brought on by the imminent arrival of autumn. What on earth can one say about him other than he makes you want to live life a bit 'slower' (see earlier post about zebra crossings) and take the time to savour stuff. The music is pared right back, voice a bit like early Tom Waits, song structures a bit like a cross between early Bolan and Grateful Dead (not a bad combination) with the songs being incredible lyrically - they really take you away in a way that Jack J simply doesn't. I probably should have chosen this one instead of Ray LaMontagne for picking grapes to. Oh well.
Kick back and enjoy - you won't be dissappointed:
Leo - just bought I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One which I am listening to now - extraordinary - must check them out live.

Hay Mark - I know you're a fan of the Yo La's - saw their London show last night - absolutely gorgeous. It is inspiring to watch such a tight group of professionals making a truly unique sound for a completely mesmerised audience. Sets the benchmark for engagement quite high.
