Ankle Tendinitis and Bursitis pain are, by definition, inflammations. Massage therapy should not be able to resolve them. In fact, massage therapy of inflamed tissue is contraindicated; it ought to make them worse. Yet in every case of a patient diagnosed with ankle Tendinitis or Bursitis, I have found trigger point activity referring pain into the area in question, and have been able to resolve the problem by treating the trigger points and assigning ergonomic adjustments, stretches and moist heat (heat is also contra-indicated for inflammations).
