"I wanted to let you know what a wonderful product your knee wrap is.  I have a 14 year daughter who plays basketball, volleyball and softball (at the same time) and was suffering from patella tendonitis.  I ordered one of the knee wraps and in 3 days the swelling was completely gone.  From time to time it will reoccur and she will immediately put the wrap on.  Usually in less than 12 hours she is as good as new.  Recently she suffered a deep thigh bruise and moved the knee wrap up to the thigh and in 2 days it was as good as new.  I just ordered a second knee wrap because she wants to wear one on each knee every night to prevent any further pain associated with the patella tendonitis.  It is a great product for my child and I will continue to recommend it to all of my friends."

PATELLAR TENDONITIS (JUMPER'S KNEE)

One of the big differences between the effects of patellar tendonitis (that is, tendonitis of the patella--the kneecap), and chondromalacia is that tendonitis Runner2.gif (2102 bytes)sufferers are much better able to locate the pain. Whereas people with chondromalacia may rub their fingers up, down, and around the knee to indicate where it hurts, when you have tendonitis you can put a fingertip right on the spot. It's so tiny and specific that you can put the tip of a ballpoint pen right on the spot and just about levitate yourself into the air with pain. And that spot is right at the bottom of the kneecap, where the tendon that goes on to connect to the shinbone begins--hence the name, patellar tendonitis. It's also called jumper's knee, as it was first described in the takeoff leg of high jumpers. But it turns out that basketball players probably have more jumper's knee than anybody else. You also see it in dancers, runners (and it's very hard to deal with in runners, for some reason), volleyball players--anyone who runs and jumps regularly may suffer from it. And, like chondromalacia, it sneaks up on you, first hurting after your activity, then toward the end of the activity, then during, at the beginning, and finally all the time. It's not nearly as common as chondromalacia-nothing is--but it's more difficult to deal with. It's probably the second most frequent knee injury.

Trigger Points and Muscles.

Trigger points are hypersensitive areas of shortened muscle fibers, which are generally located in the middle of the muscle or at its attachments.   In reality, Dancer2.gif (2074 bytes)tendonitis pain in the knee and ankle joints can be nothing more serious than referred pain from myofascial trigger points.  These trigger points shorten the overall length of the muscle and can refer pain to (make pain appear in) areas far away from the actual origin.  Referred pain can be every bit as intense and debilitating as pain from a damaged joint and can develop tendonitis.  Healing the pain involves gently treating and stretching these trigger points.  Goode Wraps provide muscles relaxation to assist in reducing the pain, stiffness and swelling associated with trigger points.

Some researchers suspect that trigger points may actually be the root cause of true osteoarthritis and other kinds of joint deterioration.  This is because muscles afflicted with trigger points become shortened and stiff. When this happens, even normal movement puts undue strain on muscle attachments at the joints, which can eventually result in damage to connective tissue and distortion of the joints themselves.

Achilles Tendonitis - ("achilles" from Greek mythology)

Achilles tendonitis is a condition wherein the Achilles Tendon, at or near its insertion to the posterior aspect of the midankle.jpg (17599 bytes)calcaneus, becomes inflamed and causes pain. The Achilles Tendon is one of the longest and strongest tendons in the body. It is avascular and therefore slow to heal. The Achilles Tendon is formed in the lower third of the posterior aspect of the tibia. Two muscles join to form the Achilles tendon: The Gastrocnemius which originates on the posterior aspect of the femur, and the Soleus which originates on the posterior aspect of the upper third of the tibia. The Achilles Tendon is an anti-pronator. Achilles tendonitis is difficult to cure.

Muscle Relaxation Clinical Study

Muscle relaxation study by a large Southwest University

A study underway is 50% complete as to the field work. It involves muscle relaxation. The protocol was to test if Goode Wra[s induces muscle relaxation by interfering with the sensitivity of muscle stretch receptors. This study uses the massage cones.

Notes from the Researchers:

The research has proven to be more difficult than anticipated primarily because there has never been any research, at least documented, concerning how muscles relax or why muscles become more flexible. The research was performed on mice. Basically they measured the flexibility that would occur over a 20 minute period by moving the mouse leg back and forth during this time period. Numerous tests were performed at three different frequencies to establish the control. The charts show how the muscle resistance decreases over time. In other words, warming up your muscles moves them to maximum flexibility.

Once these standards were developed, the same procedures were followed only a massage cone was applied to the belly of the muscles. The results show that our product quickly allows the muscle to move to full flexibility.
