SERTUC has published today, (10 May), a briefing on the need for a Trade Union Freedom Bill on our website. This follows the successful national march and rally on May Day in London and the invitation to John Hendy QC, Chair of the Institute of Employment Rights, to address the SERTUC Annual General Meeting, which was held on Saturday 6 May, at Congress House, in London.

welcome for government move on off shore working time
Following Employment Relations Minister Gerry Sutcliffe's statement today saying that he is minded to change the law to clarify that off shore workers are covered by the Working Time Directive, Brendan Barber TUC General Secretary said:
“The TUC and its affiliated unions covering offshore workers – Amicus, GMB, NUMAST, RMT and the T&G - welcome the Minister taking action on this issue.
