Gundam War History : Chapter 2 Gryps War & First Neo-Zeon War

1. Beginning - Gundamjack Incident
   • March 2, UC0087 - AEUG stole Titan's new MS RX-178 Gundam Mk II at Green Oasis (Gryps 1).
   • AEUG's goal was to obtain data from the Gundam Mk II. In this operation AEUG showcased their new MS, RMS-099 Rick Dias, and new ship, Argama, which were unknown to the Earth Federation Force.
   • The MS Squad captain was Major Char Aznable (using alias Lt. Quattro Bageena). During the escape a teenage boy named Camille Bidan, who later became the pilot of MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam, came along with Char.
   • Titans ordered the Alexandria to pursuit after Argama. After several battles, Argama finally escaped the Titans' pursuit at the Moon which made the Titans more cautious.
   • Titans announced to the world that this incident was a terror attack by the AEUG.
   
   
2. Early War - Jaburo Drop Operation
   • April 29, UC0087 - From Space, AEUG launched their MS to attack Jaburo. Their goal was to invade EFF HQ and demand the disbandment of the Titans.
   • To prepare for this attack, AEUG destroyed the satellite defense systems and stole ships at Granada.
   • AEUG's forces successfully destroyed Jaburo's outer defenses and entered the cave system of Jaburo. There AEUG forces noticed an empty base. Titans had already evacuated the base a week earlier and left only the outdated MS for defenses.
   • Titans also left a trap for the AEUG. Nuclear bombs were buried deep within Jaburo, but AEUG heard about the bombs and barely escaped Jaburo. This operation ended with a loss for the AEUG since Titans still remained a major threat on Earth and AEUG had no way to bring their pilots back to Space.
   • With the help from the Karaba, AEUG was able to bring their pilots back, but Titans slowly started to take control over the EFF.
   
   
3. Non-Discriminatory Attack - Colony Laser
   • June 8, UC0087 - Titans move Gryps 2 and A Baoa Qu to the Luna II region and form their new strategic base. It was code named, "Gate of Zedan".
   • In retaliation for the AEUG's attack on Jaburo, Titans started attacking the Moon cities and colonies. However, Titans used poison gas and colony drop targetting innocent civilians. These methods were banned under the Antartica Treaty.
   • After Char Aznable's speech at Dakar, the Titans became isolated and its founder, Jamitov Hymem, were forced to abandon Earth on Nov UC0087. He escaped to their new fortress, Gate of Zedan. However, he had a wildcard, the colony laser modified from Gryps 2. This colony laser was more advanced than its predecessor: ablility to fire longer distance, ability to fire again due to a better cooling system and a faster recharging sytem. AEUG and other space colonies were held hostage by this weapon.
   
   
4. Final - End of Gryps War
   • Jan 18, UC0088 - Axis Force destroyed the Gate of Zedan (A Baoa Qu) by ramming their own asteroid base, Axis, onto it. They entered into this conflict as the 3rd party with no alliance with either the AEUG or Titans.
   • Feb, 2 UC0088 - AEUG commenced Operation Maelstrom. AEUG successfuly claimed the colony laser from Axis, who earlier took the control away from Titans. However, Axis leader, Haman Karn, already had Axis on a collision course onto the Moon city of Granada, the defacto AEUG HQ. This collision was prevented with the help of the colony laser.
   • Feb, 22 UC0088 - Paptimus Scirocco assassinated Jamitov Hymem and took control of Titans. He ordered an attack on AEUG fleet surrounding the Gryps 2 colony laser. Most of Titans' and AEUG's fleet were involved in this major battle. In this battle, Scirocco was KIA and AEUG claimed victory. However, AEUG lost most of their force and also their leader Char Aznable, who went MIA. Axis retreated from this battle and the colony laser was destroyed.
   
   
5. Earth Invasion - First Neo Zeon War
   • Titans were defeated at the conclusion of the Gryps War. EF regained control, but things were still in a disarray. Taking advantage of this opportunity, Axis renamed itself Neo-Zeon and invaded Earth 4 months after the end of the Gryps War. With the help of the Principality of Zeon's remnants on Earth, Neo-Zeon easily secured part of the Earth with no EF resistencel.
   • In the Space, AEUG layed in ruins. Knowing this Haman sent Neo-Zeon invasion fleet to each colony. During Neo-Zeon's Earth Invasion, only 1 ship Argama was sent out to resist.
   • Aug 8, UC0088 - Haman's force conquered the EF Assembly at Dakar without any bloodshed. However, she was forced to retreat Dakar when AEUG/Karaba's force attacked.
   • Oct 31, UC0088 - Neo-Zeon dropped a colony on Dublin, Ireland. Due to this, EF Government agreed to give Side 3 to Neo-Zeon.
   • Nov 14, UC0088 - Haman returned to space. It is rumored that she returned fearing Gremi Toto's uprising. She established her new HQ at Side 3.
   
   
6. Final Chapter - Neo-Zeon Civil War
   • Dec 25, UC0088 - Gremi officially declared his Neo-Zeon faction. This started a civil war against Haman's faction. His HQ was Mauser. Jan 16, UC0089 using the asteroid Mauser, Gremi's force attacked Side 3 Core Three. Seeing Gremi as the enemy, AEUG entered Core Three and killed Gremmi. Afterwards, Mauser rammed into Core Three destroying both Gremi's and Haman's fleet. Haman was KIA in a duel against Judau's ZZ Gundam. The reformed AEUG fleet shortly arrived at the scene little too late.

MS Development History

1. MS R&D; after the OYW
   • EF's victory in the OYW ensured their access to much of Principality of Zeon's MS R&D; datas and technicians. The first few years after the OYW were considered the era of the fusion between EF and Zeon's technology in the MS R&D.;
   • Importance of the MS remained due to the guerrilla activities by the remnants of Zeon. This required EF to maintain high tech MS, but the budget constraints (paying off the cost of the war, and compensations to the soldiers' family) prevented them from building those kind of MS. Instead, EF were forced to do minor upgrade which resulted with the RGM-79R GM II and the RMS-117 Galbaldy Beta. Galbaldy Beta was not well received by some of the EF's veteran pilots since it was based on a Zeon design.
   • UC0083 Titans were formed. They were responsible for hunting down the remnants of Zeon. The formation of Titans lead to increased activities in the MS R&D; department. Budget was increased and more former Zeon technicians were hired. However, fusing together EF and Zeon designs took some time.
   • July UC0084, RMS-106 Hizack, the first mass produced MS since the end of the OYW, rolled out. The outside had the Zeon Zaku's appearance, but inside was based mostly on the EF's GM. However, the developement of beam rifle was late so the Hizack was equipped with the 120mm machine gun. Hizack did have a prototype linear seat installed in the cockpit. The following year, a 360 degree panoramic monitor with linear seat was developed and installed in all of the MS.
   • UC0085, Titans started the R&D; on the RX-178 Gundam Mk II project. Former Zeon technicians were left out of this project. This MS became the first MS to be equipped with the movable frame technology. This still required some modifications at this stage.
   
   
2. 2nd Generation MS and Gundarium
   • Gundam Mk II's movable frame was modifed total of 6 times. The main problem was the frame material. It was sound structural wise. Total of 3 prototypes were produced. Each of them went through 6 months of testing. Test results concluded that Mk II will not be mass produced.
   • Anaheim Electronics (AE) was testing their own new MS while the Titans was working on the Mk II. AE earned huge profits during the OYW by helping with the Zeon's MS R&D;/Manufacturing. They also avoided the EFF takeover by making some secret deals. After the OYW, they became the main supplier to the EFF, but they also secretly agreed to supply the new MS to AEUG (Anti-Earth United Government). AE also made a deal with Axis as well. AE obtained the Gundarium Gamma material in exchange for the prototype movable frame and linear seat. After obtaining the new material, AE worked on a smaller, lighter, and more powerful MS reactors. Last, AE worked on their flawed movable frame. A MS that implemented these ideas was labeled as the 2nd Generation MS. The first 2nd Generation MS developed was the RMS-099 Rick Dias. It was R&D; using mostly Zeon technology, but attack, defense, and mobility were very balanced.
   • March UC0087 - EFF and Titans were still not aware of the existence of the Gundarium Gamma. They were working on a modified Gundarium and were behind both Axis and AEUG. After AEUG's Gundamjack incident at Green Noah 1, EFF/Titans started suspecting AE. Melanie Hugh Carbine, the CEO of AE, gave them the RMS-108 Marasai for free to end the suspicion. Thus, the 2nd Generation MS was given to both the EF and Titans.
   • The 2nd Generation MS was used in combat from UC0087 to UC0089. Over 4000 of them were produced. Even after the introduction of the 3rd and 4th Generation MS, 2nd Generation formed the bulk of the force.
   
   
3. Introduction of the Transformable MA (TMA)
   • UC0083, R&D; on the Transformable MA had started. They wanted to take advantage of the firepower that were associated with the MA and wanted to give it a MS-like mobility by making it transformable.
   • The first ever TMA was the atomsphere-only NRX-044 Asshimar. The first prototype was developed without any major problems by UC0085. Due to the lack of firepower, a new R&D; of TMA started again.
   • ORX-055 Gaplant had the better mobility and firepower compared to the Asshimar. The flight time was shorter compared to the Asshimar, but the speed was not matched by any known plane during its time. With the optional booster, Gaplant can be launched into Space. Thermonuclear engines were used on Earth, and thermonuclear rockets for Space environment. The movable frame technology, the Gundarium gamma, and the magnetic coating were used to make Gaplant transformation complete.
   • After the end of the OYW, Murasame and Augusta Newtype Labs started researching based on datas obtained from the Flanagan Institute. Both labs also started researching on artificial-newtype (ie man-made) as well. Murasame Lab built the MRX-009 Psyco Gundam based on the data of MSN-02 Zeong. This MA was able to fly during the MA mode using the Minovsky Craft system. Its reactor's output was warship class size. It was also equipped with Mega Particle Beam. Pysco Gundam Mk II was equipped with the Reflector bits and wire-guided mega particle beams. Both system had a partially completed psycommu system which destroyed many of the pilots' mind.
   
   
4. 3rd Generation Transformable MS (TMS)
   • Technologies obtained/used in the TMA can be easily applied to the MS in order to create a TMS.
   • Axis was the first faction to make a TMS, AMX-001 Gaza A. This TMS did not have a movable frame. Axis later made AMX-002 Gaza B and continued to make the other Gaza series.
   • Learning about the Gaza program, AE started working on their own TMS project which later became known as the "Zeta Project". After the completion of the RMS-099 Rick Dias, AE started working on the MSN-100 Hyaku Shiki. AE tried to implement the TMS onto the Hyaku Shiki by modifying its movable frame. However, this plan failed and the Hyaku Shiki became MS only. Using the datas from the Hyaku Shiki, AE built a prototype TMS MSA-005 Methuss without any problems. Based on the datas from the Methuss, AE started on the R&D; of Zeta. MSZ-006X Proto Zeta Gundam was built. During the transformation testing, AE noticed a metal stress which was caused by the flawed flame structure.
   • While AE was having difficult times with the R&D; of the Zeta, two break through events occurred. First, AEUG stealing the Mk II and bringing it back successfully. Mk II, which was not considered a 2nd Generation MS, had a perfectly working movable frame. Second, a floppy disk's data, which had a design (referring to Camille's idea), quickly lead to completion of MSZ-006 Zeta Gundam.
   • TMS is commonly referred as the 3rd Generation MS. Besides the ability to transform, it surpassed all of the specs of the 2nd Generation MS. Both the EFF and the Titans worked on their own TMS projects as well. This lead to creation of more superior MS.
   
   
5. Neo-Zeon MS
   • During the Gryps War, Neo-Zeon called itself Axis. The only MS that participated in this war was the AMX-003 Gaza C, the successor of the Gaza A and B. Axis force was saving the other MS for their Earth Invasion plan.
   • Neo-Zeon MS can be categorized into 4 groups. First, the Ground type category: AMX-101 Galluss J and AMX-102 Zssa. The production cost for these MS were low. Zssa was equipped with numerous missiles and can fly in the air with a booster unit. Zssa was built as the rear support MS for the Galluss J.
   • The second category was the Space/Colony type: the Gaza series. This series included the Gaza A, Gaza B, Gaza C, AMX-006 Gaza D, and AMX-008 Gazoum. Both offensive and defensive abilities of this TMS were high.
   • 3rd category were the 2nd Generation MS. They were heavily armed and highly mobile MS. Some of the well known MS were : AMX-009 Driesen and AMX-110 Zaku III. Both were based on the old Principality of Zeon MS designs.
   • 4th category were the NT-use MS. Axis had an advanced psycommu technology compared to the rest of the factions. They were already successfully building a mass produced version of the NT MS. If it wasn't for Gremi's revolt, Neo-Zeon might have defeated both the EFF and AEUG.
   • Neo-Zeon was also working on a TMA. AMX-01X Jamru Fin saw combat during the war. This MA was the successor of the MA-08 Big Zam. Original plan was to be 40 meters tall, but it was redesigned in order to be ready for the Earth Invasion. This lead to adding a mega booster to the unit.
   • Neo-Zeon also had a knight-type MS. The confirmed MS were the AMX-103 Hamma Hamma, AMX-104R R-Jarja, and the AMX-011S Zaku III Custom. Most of these were not mass produced and only given to the elite military personnels as their custom MS.
   
   
6. 4th Generation MS
   • 4th Generation MS were classified as NT only MS. Some of the required specs were : rapid output improvement of the nuclear fusion reactors, armament of high mega cannon, dependable/safe psycommu system, and weak NT can pilot the MS. Only the Zeta, The-O, and Qubeley barely met this standard. These MS were built when the 4th Generation MS specs were not available at the time along with a perfect mind controlling technology for the enhanced NTs.
   • Neo-Zeon's AMX-014 Doven Wolf and AMX-105 Geymark can be classified as the 4th Generation MS. Even a non-NT pilot can use the Doven Wolf's INCOM and the wired-guided mega arm weapons. Geymark required a stronger NT pilot compared to the Doven Wolf, but it was considered easier to control than the Qubeley. Both of these psycommu sytem's advance can be thanked to EF's Pysco Gundam Mk II, which the Neo-Zeon picked up.
   • AEUG did manage to build at least one 4th Generation MS, the ZZ Gundam. ZZ came equipped with the biosensors which can be labeled as a quasi-psycommu system. Biosensors were first installed on the Zeta Gundam. ZZ came with a modifed version of the Zeta's biosensors. ZZ's Core Top and Core Base had its own nuclear fusion reactor. Their total output was 3 times the Zeta's total output. The head came with Hi Mega Cannon, which had a similar power to the Mega Bazooka Launcher. The firepower of the ZZ was equivalent to a MA class unit.

Gundam Official Report

1. Aftermath of the OYW
   • Jan 1, UC0080 concluded the first space war by humans. With the help of Side 6, the EF and Republic of Zeon signed a cease fire agreement. However, this did not mark the end of the Earthnoid vs Spacenoid conflict.
   • EF did not take the position of the victors after the war. EF lost majority of its Space Force at the end of Battle of A Baoa Qu. EF solely blamed the war on the Zabi family. Feb 18, UC0080, the EF and the Republic of Zeon officially signed a treaty to end the war which also included the recognition of the Republic.
   
   
2. Establishment of Axis
   • EF thought Zeon still had most of their forces at Granada and Side 3, but this was far from the truth. About 50% of Principality of Zeon Force ignored the Republic's order and exiled to Axis. This included about 10,000 soldiers and their family.
   • The leader of this group was Maharaj Karn, who also brought along Zena Zabi, Dozle's wife, and daughter Mineva. Their main goal was to re-establish the Zabi throne. Their destination was Axis, a small asteroid located within the Asteroid Belt. Axis' construction was secretely started in UC0072 between the Moon Industries and Principality of Zeon as a base for their Jupiter Fleet.
   • March UC0081, the exiled group reached the asteroid base Axis. Unable to hold total of 30,000 people, many lived on ships for another 2 years. UC0083, Mauser was completed which allowed permanent residency on Axis.
   • May 5, UC0081 - Zena Zabi died. Aug 11, UC0083 Maharaj Karn died. These events brought the greatest danger (political vacuum) to Axis. 2 days later, Char Aznable appointed Haman Karn, 14 year old daughter of Maharaj, as the regent and the care taker of Mineva Zabi. She had the charisma of a leader, the political power, and grabbing peoples' hearts. After she was sworn in, she started preparing for the return to Earth.
   • Initially Char was Haman's assistant, but he left Axis because of the political ideology difference with her. He left Axis officially on a spy mission to Earth. Char joined the AEUG and stayed at Sweetwater helping with AEUG's military build up. *NOTE: this is the colony he presumely hid after the Gryps War.*
   • Feb 6, UC0086 - Haman ordered Axis to move forward to Earth. Axis moved using its thermonuclear pulse engines. Haman saw this as the perfect opportunity to re-establish the Zabi rule as the tension between AEUG and Titans were building up.
   • Feb 29, UC0088 - Haman declared the rebirth of Neo-Zeon to the world. This was the start of the First Neo-Zeon War.
   
   
3. Gryps War
   • The treaty signed by the EF government caused alot of displeasure among the Earthnoids. This displeasure gave way to Jamitov Hymem's creation of Titans. Titans were made up of elite Earthnoids whose job was to hunt down remnants of Zeon or quell Spacenoid's 'terrorist' activities. Titans gradually increased their influence within the EF's military and political arena. Since Titans were not under the civilian control, it became Jamitov Hymem's dictatorship with crusades against the Spacenoids. As Titans grew stronger, the EF government became weaker.
   • The friction between the Spacenoid and EF intensified after the war. First, EF failed to solve the massive refugee crisis caused by the OYW. Second, EF's cancellation of more colonly constructions. Spacenoid saw this as a betrayal by the EF government. Spacenoids in each colony started to assemble public gatherings, public protests, and sabotages against the EF government.
   • To counter this, Titans deployed their troops to each colony to quell these activities. Then the 30th Bunch incident occurred on July 31, UC0085. Titans used poison gas to quell the massive demonstration at Side 1's 30th Bunch. The use of the poison gas killed all of the residents in this colony. This incident triggered the formation of the AEUG. With the help from the Moon industries' financial supports, AEUG quickly started building their own MS/ships and started recruiting EF military personnels. Brigadier General Brex Fora and AE's Melanie Hugh Carbine became the central figures of the AEUG.
   • UC0085 Titans completed Gryps 2 as their military base in Side 7.
   • March 2, UC0087 - AEUG using their flagship, Argama, and 3 new MS, Rick Dias, successfully infiltrated Gryps and stole 3 Gundam Mk II. On May 11th, AEUG launched an attack on the EFF HQ Jaburo. However, Titans already evacuated the base and set up a trap for AEUG force via nuclear bomb.
   • Gryps War's battles were small scale compared to the OYW. Most of the Titans attacks were colony drop on Moon and attempting to gas the colonies. AEUG responded to these attacks by sending out their MS squadron. After Char's speech at Dakar, Titans lost support from the Earthnoids and became isolated. This was when Titans started using the colony laser which was built from Gryps 2. Titans also tried to seek an alliance with Haman's Axis force. However, negotiations for alliance broke down and the 3 way battle occurred. At the end of Gryps War, Titans were destroyed, AEUG lost majority of its force, and Axis maintained bulk of their force because they pulled out from the last battle to prepare for the Earth Invasion.
