THE SPIRIT OF CHRISTMAS

The first Spirit of Christmas CD was produced in 1993. It was born out of a desire to continue the Myer tradition of philanthropic support in the Community, whilst at the same time providing something special for everyone to enjoy.

Over the years, the Spirit of Christmas CD has showcased the best of our Australian artists and musicians and their music provides great warmth and inspiration to people of all ages at Christmas time.

In 2006 The Spirit of Christmas CD features carols from some of Australia’s favourite performers - Delta Goodrem, Guy Sebastian, Dannii Minogue, The Young Divas, David Campbell, Natalie Bassingthwaite, The Wiggles, Paul Kelly, Daryl Braithwaite and more.

Myer CEO Bernie Brookes said ‘for 13 years now, The Spirit of Christmas CD has brought the country’s finest musical talent together for a great cause with proceeds from the sale of the CD going to the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Appeal, which supports at-risk children and youth throughout Australia. Since the first Spirit of Christmas CD, this Myer initiative has raised over $5.5 million for the Salvation Army.’

With the talents of executive producers Lindsay Field and Glenn Wheatley back on board, The Spirit of Christmas CD includes some of Australia’s best artists who have provided their time and musical skills to create a festive blend of Christmas songs as impressive as ever. Each featured artist on this year’s 14-track CD has selected their own Christmas song and performed it with a signature twist.

Paul Field from The Wiggles says, ‘We love Christmas music - it's joyful and triumphant! Being part of The Spirit of Christmas has always been a pleasure for us particularly knowing that if people purchase this album it will help those less fortunate than ourselves and that is a real gift!’

Each year, the Salvation Army helps more than 1 million Australians in need and at Christmas time – more than any other time – the emphasis on family can mean that loneliness and financial desperation is even more of an issue.

The Spirit of Christmas CD retails for $23.95 and is available exclusively at Myer stores from 10 November. All profits from proceeds of this CD will be donated to The Salvation Army in Australia.

Now available to purchase online from Salvation Army Supplies!
