The hit international series Meerkat Manor has been nominated for two Primetime Emmy Awards for Editing (Renoir Tuahene) and Cinematography (John Brown & Robin Smith).
Produced by Oxford Scientific Films for Animal Planet, Meerkat Manor is now in its third season with a total of 39 x half hour episodes having now been produced. Filming in the Kalahari with the co-operation of Cambridge University, the series paints a dramatic picture of meerkats’ highly complex and social lives.
In this award-winning soap opera with a difference – the main protagonists are twelve inches high, live underground in burrows and live on a diet of worms, insects and lizards. Through the series we get to know each individual character as intimately as any human soap star but here the relationships, births, deaths and conflicts are real.
Meerkat Manor airs on Animal Planet worldwide in more than 160 countries, reaching nearly 300 million homes. The third season of Meerkat Manor premiered in the United States on August 10 and will premier in international markets commencing with the UK on September 10. Meerkat Manor has also recently been nominated for a 2007 Jackson Hole Wildlife Film Festival Award for Best Original Score.
